Actor Misha Collins is best known for his performance as the angel Castiel in the long-running series Supernatural. Despite initially being a supporting character, Castiel quickly became a fan favorite and an indispensable part of the series thanks to Collins’ performance.
Despite Collins’s unforgettable role in the series, some of his other stints haven’t been as memorable. As a result, many fans may have forgotten that the actor also appeared in an episode of the long-running procedural drama series NCIS.

Collins appeared on the hit series before his career-defining role on Supernatural. As a result, it is understandable why most fans may not remember his appearance on NCIS and here is a quick reminder of his stint on the series.
Supernatural‘s Misha Collins appeared in one episode of NCIS
Before starting his acting career, Misha Collins interned at the White House for four months. He made his screen acting debut in a 1999 episode of the Western drama Legacy. During the 2000s, Collins continued appearing in guest and recurring roles in several TV shows.

One such appearance came in 2006, when the actor appeared in an episode of the long-running police procedural drama NCIS. Collins appeared in the season 4 episode titled Singled Out.
In the episode which revolves around the NCIS team led by Mark Harmon as they investigate the kidnapping of a Navy Lieutenant, Collins played the role of Justin Farris. Collins’s character is one of the suspects in the kidnapping of the missing Lieutenant.
However, Farris does not turn out to be the actual kidnapper and Collins only appears in the earlier portions of the episode as a suspect. Moreover, it turns out to be a one-off appearance for Collins on the series. Therefore, it is easy to understand why most fans forget that he was on the series in the first place.
Misha Collins reflected on his debut as Castiel in Supernatural
In most of his TV appearances, including his short-lived NCIS stint, Collins did a perfectly servicable job. However, he received his first real opportunity to flex his acting muscles when he was cast in the recurring role of Castiel in the fourth season of Supernatural.

Initially introduced as a supporting character, Castiel became one of the most important allies of the Winchester brothers across the show’s whopping fifteen-season run. Alongside Mark Sheppard’s Crowley and Jim Beaver’s Bobby Singer, both of whom also appeared in NCIS, Collins’ Castiel is easily one of the most popular characters from the series.
I really hadn’t watched the show, so I didn’t even know what the tone was, and I didn’t know what really was happening. I just sort of saw it as another guest spot that wasn’t a big deal, and I was kind of not putting a lot of stock in it, I guess.
Collins made the above statement to TV Line, reflecting on his first appearance as Castiel in season 4 of Supernatural.
From Collins’s words, it is evident that the actor initially thought it would be another guest appearance in his filmography. However, Collins was eventually proven wrong as his Supernatural character turned him into a household name and proved to be a career-defining role for him.
