Looking at the week ahead, Cathal Nolan of Ireland’s Weather Channel said “high pressure” is the “dominant feature” of the forecast.
The meteorologist explained: “There’s very little to say about this week’s weather other than enjoy.
“A beautiful week of weather is forecast with high pressure the dominant feature, building close to or to the northeast of Ireland, allowing for a warm southeasterly airflow to develop.”
He continued: “The week will be sunny for many with warm spells of sunshine and highs reaching into the mid to high teens, touching 20 degrees in parts of the midlands and northwest.”
Today will start off with long spells of hazy sunshine before turning into widespread sunshine as the day progresses.
Temperatures will sit at highs of between 11C to 18C today.
It will be coolest in southern and eastern counties and warmest in the west.
Tonight it will be “dry and clear” with light to moderate southeasterly winds in 4C to 8C temperatures.
And Wednesday will be “another fine day” according to Met Eireann, with temperatures up to 17C.
Again on Wednesday it will be coolest in the east and south.
Overnight temperatures between 3C to 7C in a “dry and clear” night again.
Thursday may cause a slight disruption to the glimpse of summer as some showers are set to fall, but experts have promised it is an “exception”.
Cathal Nolan of Ireland’s Weather Channel warned: “There’s a small chance of a couple of showers in the southwest on Thursday, but this will be the exception rather than the rule, and is always the case when we have southeasterly or easterly winds, it will remain cooler along Irish Sea coasts and coastal fringes of the south.
“Warmest in the west, midlands and northwest.”
‘SOME SHOWERS MIGHT STICK AROUND’
While some rain will fall, Met Eireann are only expecting a few millimetres.
Met Eireann’s Rebecca Cantwell said: “Thursday then looks to start our dry and bright before cloud and showery rain moves into the south coast during the afternoon.
“Further north though it will continue dry though with widespread sunshine.
“Some of those showers might stick around overnight but will die out early on Friday.
She added: “But we’re not looking at a huge amount falling, just a few mls before the sunshine and dry conditions return again in time for the weekend.”
Despite the rain highs of up to 17C are in store on Thursday.
Friday will be dry and sunny once again after the rainy blip with temperatures of up to 18C.
And staying dry overnight on Friday with temperatures of 3C to 8C.
