Fasten your seatbelts folks, because as it happens, even Hollywood’s toughest guys aren’t immune to midair crisis. Recently, Dwayne Johnson experienced a real-life action movie moment when his private jet faced a scary technical problem, forcing an emergency landing. Now surprisingly, his experience reminded us of another heart-stopping aviation incident.
Yes, we’re talking about veteran legend and avid pilot Harrison Ford’s near-fatal crash in his vintage World War II plane, back in 2015. So, buckle up as we dive into these sky-high incidents and address each of their respective experiences.

Dwayne Johnson reflected on his recent midair crisis
Dwayne Johnson might be the king of action on-screen—performing all sorts of crazy stunts and cool actions—but his recent jet drama was all too real. Taking to his Instagram account, the WWE star recounted the incident that took place on his flight to Texas along with his crew. The actor noted how the pilot calmly informed him about an emergency landing due to a mechanical issue.
According to Dwayne Johnson, they were about 30-40 minutes into the flight when the pilot informed him about a technical problem that would obstruct them from traveling over the Ocean to Texas. The Rock noted how the flight’s pilot, Captain David, announced his decision to turn the plane back to Hawaii, reassuring Johnson and the crew they’d land safely.
It’s just me on the plane, me and the crew, and he says, ‘Mr Johnson, I’m sorry to inform you but we cannot continue to fly over the ocean. We have a problem. We have to turn the plane around and we have to land back in Hawaii. You have my word we will land back safely on the island.’ It was a hydraulics issue with the overheating.

The actor noted that although the pilot kept his promise and landed them back in Hawaii safely, it didn’t stop his intrusive thoughts from plaguing his mind during turbulence. Dwayne Johnson admitted that for a second, he wondered, “is this how I check out?” Eventually, Johnson mentioned how his terrifying incident made him look at life differently and made him reflect on important things.
Harrison Ford experienced a near-fatal crash landing
Now, while Dwayne Johnson’s experience scared the life out of us, it seemed to remind us of a far worse near-fatal crash that Hollywood veteran Harrison Ford experienced, back in 2015. According to People, the legendary Indiana Jones star, known for his adventurous spirit both on and off-screen, was piloting his World War II vintage plane when disaster struck.
According to reports, the engine malfunctioned mid-flight, leaving Harrison Ford with no choice but to make an emergency landing. Now, unfortunately, the landing wasn’t exactly a smooth one. Ford landed his two-seater plane on Penmar Golf Course in southern California, suffering severe injuries—a shattered right ankle, broken pelvis, broken back, and a serious head injury.

Ford noted on Jimmy Kimmel Live! via Today,
I remember. Not all of it, I remember some of it. I remember the engine stopping; I remember that part very well. And then I remember the tower; I remember their suggestion. Their suggestion was that I take the normal route to land and I knew I wasn’t going to do that, so I said no. And that’s the last thing that I remember until five days afterward, actually.
Well, although Harrison Ford’s experience was undoubtedly traumatic, the actor made a remarkable recovery. And guess what? Just months later, he was back in the pilot’s seat. However, as per NBC, the actor once again experienced a potentially serious incident in 2017, in California, while flying his private plane, a single-engine Husky. Yet, Ford hasn’t given up on his passion for flying.
