A woman’s trip to a mall took an unexpected turn when she noticed a man behaving suspiciously on an escalator — and what she captured on camera quickly went viral.
According to her, the man was allegedly attempting to take upskirt photos of girls wearing short skirts at a mall in Seberang Jaya, Penang — all while his wife and young daughter were shopping nearby.
“Girls who wear short skirts, please be careful”
In her Facebook post, the woman said she was at a café when she spotted the man closely following a girl in a short skirt onto the escalator.
What caught her attention was the way he held his phone near the woman’s skirt, angled suspiciously upwards.

She began filming and later noticed him doing the same thing to another girl. Disturbed by what she was witnessing, she alerted her husband and continued to monitor the man’s movements.
They later saw a third potential victim which prompted her husband to report the incident to mall security and police.
Man allegedly fled before authorities acted
Despite raising the alarm, the woman said the man managed to leave before any action was taken.
While mall staff and police were eventually involved, she expressed frustration at how slowly the situation was handled.
The woman later spotted the man again, and fearing he might escape, she decided to quietly follow him from the second floor to the first.
She eventually saw him reunite with a woman, believed to be his wife, who was carrying a baby estimated to be around one year old.
“I didn’t do this for attention. I just couldn’t stay quiet.”
Although the husband has been more visible in the videos circulating online, the woman clarified that she was the one who first noticed the suspicious behaviour, filmed the videos, and took steps to report it.
She also responded to critics, saying she wasn’t trying to be a hero — just someone who couldn’t ignore what was happening.
If it were your daughter, your sister, or someone you love — would you still choose to stay silent?”
Her story has since sparked widespread support online, with many praising her quick thinking and courage to speak up — and reminding others to always stay alert in public spaces.
