‘Caring’ killer let my son rot after battering him to death with a kettle, says victim’s mum

THE mother of a man battered to death with a kettle has hit out after the fiend who murdered him was described in court as “caring”.

Sheila Morrison, 76, blasted evil crack addict Elizabeth Sweeney, who bludgeoned her son Neil Jolly — then went out, soaked in his blood, to party with pals for three days.

The sex worker, 36, was caged for a minimum of 18 years for the brutal slaying at Neil’s high-rise flat in Aberdeen.

But her lawyer David Moggach told the city’s High Court: “She did at one time work in a nursing home — which I think suggests a caring side to her personality.”

But disgusted Sheila, who listened to the comments, said: “Neil was my only son — and she left him to rot like a piece of rubbish.

“If she was caring, why didn’t she get some help for him?

“She had no regard for his life. His final moments must have been horrific.

“He was lying there on the floor trying to defend himself as she attacked him. That’s not the actions of a caring person.”

It’s claimed that Sweeney took advantage of dad-of-three Neil, 49, and used his home for hook-ups with clients before attacking him in June 2023, leaving him with car crash-like injuries.

Mr Moggach described the murder as “catastrophic” but “impulsive”.

Sweeney claimed she woke to find Neil raping her — but there was no evidence of a sex assault.

Judge Andrew Miller told her: “You murdered Neil Jolly in what must have been a prolonged and sustained assault.

“You spent that weekend giving little thought to Neil Jolly’s fate.”

Sheila added: “She’s still got a life. We have to carry on without Neil.

“It’s hard to get what she did to him out of my head.

“But at least the worst part is over and we have some closure.

“It would have been so much harder if no one had been caught and we got no justice.”
