CARLOW have handed their managerial reins to Joe Murphy following last week’s shock departure of Shane Curran.
Murphy, who has steered Naas to three consecutive Kildare SFC titles, will fill his native county’s hotseat for the 2025 Championship.

Curran and his backroom team cited ’ongoing issues with certain players’ as they stepped down after just seven games in charge.
But the Carlow players labelled the outgoing management’s claims ‘misleading’, adding that there were ‘persistent concerns with the overall organisation and training environment’ during a league campaign that saw them finish fourth in Division 4.
Murphy will be thrown in at the deep end on Sunday, with the Barrowsiders due to face Meath at Páirc Tailteann in their Leinster SFC opener.
In a statement announcing his appointment, Carlow GAA said: “The former Éire Óg and Carlow player brings a wealth of experience as a successful player and manager.
“Speaking on behalf of the county senior football panel, Mikey Bambrick (captain) welcomed the appointment and said the players are looking forward to working with Joe Murphy over the coming months.”
