Apart from being an exceptionally gifted actor, Pedro Pascal is renowned for being one of the most genuine A-listers in the business, thanks to his down-to-earth and supportive demeanor.
However, his recent stance for Rachel Zegler has ruffled a few feathers in X, with some even deeming him a coward, even though it was entirely on brand for The Last of Us star.
The backlash toward Pedro Pascal is uncalled for
Opposed to social media’s polarizing nature, Pedro Pascal has continued to inspire empathy and kindness despite the backlash from certain factions. Taking to IG stories, the actor called West Side Story star Rachel Zegler, who has found herself in the crosshairs of controversy for the Snow White remake and her previous comments regarding the original one, an “icon.”
While there are legitimate reasons why many weren’t thrilled about the live-action remake, the hate brigade toward Zegler is toxic to say the least, especially given that she was undoubtedly the best part of the movie.
As for Pascal, considering he has previously gushed about the former’s brilliance in West Side Story, and Zegler too hasn’t shied away from celebrating The Last of Us star, it makes sense why he has come out in defense of Zegler.
Gina Carano and Pedro Pascal remain on friendly terms
In an unsurprising turn of events, Pascal was met with backlash over his support for Rachel Zegler, and one user even proceeded to call him a coward, adding, “Where was this energy with Gina Carano? Coward”. Although it makes sense why he didn’t address the controversy directly, given the legality of it all, behind the curtains, he remained in touch with his Mandalorian costar during the tumultuous period.
Carano further confirmed that the duo remain on friendly terms, confessing that Pascal reached out to her following their co-star Carl Weathers’ passing in 2024 (via Vanity Fair).
Me and Pedro were so close. He knows 1,000 percent I’m not homophobic or transphobic. He texted me after Carl Weathers passed away. We had our conversation and it was beautiful. But the unwarranted noise has done little to stagnate his ascent in showbiz, as with The Last of Us season 2 and Fantastic Four on the horizon, both Pascal and his fans are set to eat well.
