Rangers fans handed chance to grill chief Patrick Stewart on American takeover and future of Barry Ferguson

Gers chief Patrick Stewart is set to host his first forum with fans since joining in December.

The Q&A at Edmiston House will see Rangers supporters given the opportunity to grill the CEO on topics such as the upcoming US takeover and the future of interim manager Barry Ferguson.

The event at Ibrox, due for April 23rd, will see Stewart joined by senior management representatives to face fans who will be seeking clarity on the San Francisco 49ers buyout understood to be completed by May, and Ferguson’s chances of landing the role of permanent boss.

An email sent to fans by the club confirming the event read: “While the club has hosted fans’ forums before, this will be the first to be led by chief executive officer Patrick Stewart.

“He will be joined on the evening by members of the club’s senior management team, who will provide updates across a range of key areas and take questions from supporters on a variety of topics.

“The forum is part of the club’s ongoing commitment to open and meaningful dialogue with its supporters, offering a valuable opportunity for fans to engage directly with decision-makers across the organisation.”

These fan panels were introduced by James Bisgrove, predecessor to former Manchester United CEO Stewart, who left back in May last year.

The Andrew Cavenagh and Paraag Marathe led takeover bid will likely be the most questioned point as it has been rumbling on for some time with much information still unknown to fans.

Figures involved in the proposal have been spotted taking in several Gers games recently, and it’s understood they would be keen to make upgrades at the Auchenhowie training ground.

But a takeover being completed as the season comes to a close could have a huge say in the future of the manager position too.

Former Gers captain Ferguson alongside familiar faces Neil McCann, Allan McGregor, and Billy Dodds have shouldered the temporary responsibility fairly well thus far.

A convincing Old Firm win at Celtic Park and progression past Fenerbahce in the Europa League have had fans excited.

But Fergie himself was critical of the most recent performance which saw his side have to battle back from 3-1 down to snatch three points at the death against Dundee.

With the club still 13 points behind their Glasgow rivals, and big names such as Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard floated, new owners would have a big decision on their hands.

400 places will be available for supporters to attend the Stewart Q&A next month, with allocation being decided by a ballot.
