MCDONALD’S customers have slammed the store for selling popular Minecraft Happy Meals with no toy included, leaving kids “very disappointed”.
The fast food chain last week unveiled its Minecraft Movie Meal to celebrate the release of the video game-inspired film – with many calling it an “adult happy meal”

Priced from £8.19, the deal includes a Big Mac, nine McNuggets or four Veggie Dippers, plus the choice of a side and a drink.
And, best of all, you should get a collectable character inspired by the McDonald’s menu, including Grimace Egg, Zombie Hamburglar, Birdie Wings, Fry Helmet, Soda Potion and Big Mac Crystal.
There are also cheaper kids’ Minecraft Happy Meals priced from £3.99, with 12 Blockhead or Block World toys available to go with it.
But several customers said their kids were left disappointed that the toy was not included in their orders, with the issue hitting those who ordered the deal by takeaway, Drive Thru or home delivery.
One said on social media platform X: “Paid extra for a Minecraft meal for the toy for my son, and didn’t receive it.
“Disappointing @McDonaldsUK”
A second fumed: “Loved getting home from the drive through with the kids to find that neither of them had their minecraft collectable with their chicken nuggets…”
A third added: “@McDonaldsUK @DeliverooHelp not great when your order minecraft meals from you specifically for the toys and then not get given the toys. My kids are really unhappy and I’m fuming.”
And a Drive Thru customer complained: “Just bought 3 of your Minecraft meals specifically for the toy.
“Return home to no toy and two very disappointed kids.”
Meanwhile, a mum who had the same problem responded to say: “My two boys are so gutted as they love playing Minecraft.”
A McDonald’s spokesperson said: “We know how excited our customers are about our brand new A Minecraft Movie Meal (crafted for adults) and the limited-edition collectible that comes with it.
“We take order accuracy very seriously and apologise sincerely for any disappointment caused where the collectible has not been received.”
It’s understood a limited-edition collectible is available with every Minecraft Movie Meal, regardless of how it is ordered.
The Minecraft Movie will be released on April 4 in the UK.
This is not the first time the home of the golden arches has messed up with missing Happy Meal toys.
In October 2023, parents were left fuming after buying a McDonald’s Happy Meal for their kids and finding the latest toy missing from boxes.
In a Halloween special at the time, the fast food chain added the popular Squishmallow toy to the meal deal.
However, furious customers complained of being given old toys like Smurfs, Pokemon cards and books with the £3.49 meal instead of the popular plushies.
One mum said: “My 6-year-old daughter left utterly devastated, hoping for a Halloween Squishmallow to receive a smurf toy from last year?!”
Another said: “Pretty upset little boy @McDonaldsUK. No Squishmallow in his happy meal. Pretty poor considering the huge promotion you’ve put into this!”.
HOW TO SAVE MONEY AT MACCIES
Did you know that you can end up being charged more based on which branch of McDonald’s you choose to eat at?
There can be up to a 30p price difference in a Big Mac meal at restaurants which are just two miles away from each other, The Sun previously found.
Another way to cut back spending at McDonald’s is by ordering from the Savers menu or by taking advantage of its ‘3 for £3’ deal when it lands in stores.
It is also worth bearing in mind that McDonald’s offers a discount on your next order if you fill out a survey online after visiting its stores.
These can be found on the back of any receipt you get at McDonald’s.
Save money at McDonald’s
YOU could end up being charged more for a McDonald’s meal based solely on the McDonald’s restaurant you choose.
Research by The Sun found a Big Mac meal can be up to 30% cheaper at restaurants just two miles apart from each other.
You can pick up a Big Mac and fries for just £2.99 at any time by filling in a feedback survey found on McDonald’s receipts.
The receipt should come with a 12-digit code which you can enter into the Food for Thought website alongside your submitted survey.
You’ll then receive a five-digit code which is your voucher for the £2.99 offer.
There are some deals and offers you can only get if you have the My McDonald’s app, so it’s worth signing up to get money off your meals.
The MyMcDonald’s app can be downloaded on iPhone and Android phones and is quick to set up.
You can also bag freebies and discounts on your birthday if you’re a My McDonald’s app user.
How do I find my nearest McDonald’s?
The chain has a restaurant locator tool on its website you can use to find your nearest one – and check what time it opens.
McDonald’s locator also lets you know when its stores open.
As McDonald’s stops serving breakfast as early as 11am, you’ll need to get there before the chain switches to its regular menu.
