Deadpool 3 Crew Member Confirms the Allegation About Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni Surrounding Nicepool

When it comes to drawing the line, Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool has none. The actor has trolled and joked about many real-world elements that would otherwise be considered offensive in the industry. However, the same beloved nature of the character seems to have bitten him and his wife, Blake Lively, in the legal battle against Justin Baldoni.

Baldoni slapped a $400 million lawsuit against the couple after Lively accused him of s*xual harassment. Accusations of Lively taking creative control of It Ends With Us and later mocking the filmmaker and actor in Deadpool and Wolverine have been making the rounds. Now, a crew member from the MCU film has confirmed the allegation.

Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Wolverine was one of the biggest hits of 2024. The film saw Reynolds and Hugh Jackman make their MCU debut and take things to the next-level with the multiveral shenanigans, while also poking fun of everything under the sun. From jokes on Kevin Feige to a reference to Jackman’s own divorce, every line was crossed.

While this is the USP of Deadpool, it seems like Reynolds’s penchant for mixing the personal with professional has gone too far. The actor was accused of bullying actor and filmmaker Justin Baldoni with the character of Nicepool in Deadpool and Wolverine. Many of the characters’ lines were said to be a mockery of Baldoni’s own views and statements.

Now, the rumor has been confirmed by a crew member of the film. According to Kjersti Flaa, a crew member mentioned that when they entered the set, they were informed that Nicepool was a parody of a “horrible director”. She said,

She told me that as soon as the production started, she was told [quote], ‘Nicepool is based on a horrible director that Blake hates’. So that was known from the get-go that people knew about that.

It seems like the merc-with-the-mouth’s long leesh has finally reached its maximum length, and Reynolds’ own tongue-in-cheek humor may have cost him a lot of money.

Blake Lively almost confirmed during Deadpool and Wolverine promotions that Nicepool was based on Justin Baldoni

The Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni legal drama has become extremely intense. It has reached such a level that even Joe Rogan seems to have an opinion on it, claiming that Reynolds and Lively ‘f*cked up’ (via Variety). The Nicepool allegations are just some of the main talking points about this battle, which is set for trial in March 2026.

THR reported that while Nicepool as a character was created before Deadpool and Wolverine broke schedule for the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, filming was only post-strike, after Lively’s experience on the sets of It Ends With Us. Due to the largely improvisational nature of the film, it is entirely possible that Baldoni was the joke here.

However, a crew member is not needed to confirm this, as, funnily enough, Lively herself hinted at the film having made fun of Baldoni’s personality. The actress wrote in an Instagram post that the film had many elements of her, including making fun of ‘nice men who use feminism as a tool’. This is considered to be a jab at Baldoni. She wrote,

It’s hard not to encourage my ladies to spot all the ways we’ve influenced @deadpoolmovie. I’ve never been more proud.

If that is the case, Lively just admitted to not just throwing a jab at the filmmaker, but also having some amount of creative influence on Deadpool and Wolverine, which was what she was accused of doing in It Ends With Us.
