THE countdown to the summer on and Dunnes Stores have already dropped some gorgeous holiday must-haves.
A stunning beach dress has landed in stores across the country and is also available online.

The beach dress has a cutout crochet bodice and has an elasticated back.
Dunnes Stores chiefs said the beach dress is “eye-catching”.
They said: “Your go to for beach days. Crafted with a shirred fabric and featuring an eye catching crochet detailed bodice with fixed straps makes for an easy to wear dress while the elasticated back allow for the perfect fit.”
For only €20, the beach frock is a piece you will keep turning to all summer long.
Style it with flipflops for lounging by the pool or pair with wedges for a dressed up look.
The pretty cream beach dress comes in sizes extra-small to extra-large.
And best of all, it won’t take up too much space in your suitcase.
Meanwhile, Dunnes Stores has also released a new matching co-ord that’s ideal for summer holidays.
The Savida Mia Stripe Texture Oversized Shirt and matching bottoms are now available online and in shops around the country.
The set has come at the ideal time as people are starting to stock up their summer holiday wardrobes.
It’s always good to pack something lightweight for a warmer climate but that will still protect your skin from the sun.
And something that’s oversized is ideal for travelling as it is comfy for the journey.
The new shirt features a smart collar, long sleeves, and a button up design at the front.
It costs €30 and comes in sizes XXS up to XXL.
But there’s bad news for some fans of the look, as only XS up to M is still available online.
However, the other size might still be found on the racks in the shop.
An official description of the item reads: “A stylish option for the transitional weather, this shirt from Savida is crafted from a lightweight cotton blend.
“It boasts a classic striped motif and diamond pattern frayed stitching.
“Pair with the matching shorts and a white tee for a light and breezy summer look.
“Savida is available exclusively at Dunnes Stores.”
The shirt can be worn with another item or paired with the matching shorts for a coordinated look.
Why police were called to first Dunnes Stores opening
BETWEEN the weekly food shops and bargain fashion – Dunnes Stores is a staple retailer in Irish households.
But this wasn’t always the case, and when the initial branch of the shop opened its doors in 1944 it caused quite the stir
On March 31 of the year, Ben Dunne opened the first ever Dunnes Stores on St Patrick’s Street in Co Cork.
Locals quickly learned of the grand opening and flooded into the store in what the retailer’s archives recall as a “shopping frenzy.”
The bargain clothing on sale inside the new store at “pre-war prices” was one of the factors cited for the buzz.
During the chaos a window was forced in and Gardai were called to the scene.
Cops worked to deal with the eager crowds and keep shoppers calm and safe before they made it into the store for their first Dunnes experience.
Fast forward some 80 years, the business now employs over 18,000 people and although an opening of a Dunnes branch hasn’t caused quite as much stir since the very first one, it has cemented its place as one of the nation’s leading retailers.
Dunnes Stores now has 138 stores across Europe:
- 118 in the Republic of Ireland,
- 15 in Northern Ireland
- Five stores in Spain.
