And the experts at Pitchup.com have put together a list of the best camping and glamping sites in the UK – with a Scots site named among the gold standard.

This year, the search and booking platform has created a new standard for sites that have achieved a full 10/10 in the previous year’s customer reviews – the UK Camping and Glamping Golds.

Each site was evaluated on location, value for money, quality of accommodation, activities and cleanliness.

From over 3,600 UK sites bookable through Pitchup, a total of 26 sites have achieved Gold status.

In Scotland, there are some incredible sites to stay at.

The Pitchup team said: “Scotland scored a 9.1 in 2024 with Pitchup customers.

“From misty lochs to rolling Highlands, Scotland offers a unique blend of breathtaking scenery and rich cultural heritage, perfect for nature lovers and adventurers alike.”

And the only Scottish destination to secure Gold status is Woodland Gardens Caravan Site in Leven.

The park is an adults-only site in Fife, with stunning views over the Firth of Forth and beyond.

And it’s just a mile to the pretty Lower Largo beach.

The site has a number of caravan pitches, as well as a camping areas.

And there are also Hobbit-style camping huts, perfect for a couple too cosy up in.

The Pitchup description reads: “This peaceful site is set up for adults only, and it prides itself on maintaining high quality through great attention to detail.

“That meticulous approach applies throughout, from keeping the gardens neat and tidy to making sure the toilets and showers are always nice and clean.”

Other Scottish sites which got an honourable mention include Newton Campsite in Gatehouse of Fleet, in Dumfries and Galloway, as well as Dall Cottage Camping, in Pitlochry, Perthshire.

Coming top of the sites in the whole of the UK is Draughton Heights Campsite, on the outskirts of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

The camping ground, which has tent and caravan pitches as well as a camping pod, was praised for its immaculate amenities with 100 per cent of visitors saying they would stay again.

Meanwhile, in second place is The Paddocks Caravan and Camping site in Gwynedd, Wales.

The small family-run site, which has a number of different pitch options, is hailed as being ultra-organised and just five minutes from the beach and the local pub.
