Hollywood has seen quite a few spoiler-spillers over the years in various shapes and sizes, and as of late, Tom Holland seemed to be the one raging at the top of the list.
But it sounds like there used to be someone even worse than him when it came to keeping secrets: Alan Cumming, the very actor who used to be a part of the X-Men universe, which is now counted under the MCU.

As surprising as it may seem, the Nightcrawler portrayer from the original X-Men film series actually knew the show’s most shocking secrets while working on the hit drama series The Good Wife. But instead of keeping a secret, he ended up spilling the beans in front of everyone, though it remains a mystery how it all didn’t get ruined before anyone noticed!
Alan Cumming almost ruined The Good Wife‘s most shocking mystery
More than half a decade after he was done working on the original X-Men film series by contributing as the blue-colored mutant superhero Nightcrawler, Alan Cumming bagged a spot on The Good Wife, which is one of the most critically commended shows in the legal/political drama genre. From the start to the end, he embodied the character of Eli Gold for the CBS drama.
During that very tenure, he found out the most shocking secret about the series: The fact that Josh Charles’ character, Will Gardner, gets murdered in the fifth season after getting shot and killed in the courtroom by his client, Jeffrey Grant. But while knowing about this mystery was one thing, the surprising part was that Cumming didn’t bother to keep quiet about it.

At the 2024 Television Critics Association Winter press tour in February 2024, he came clean about the same while confessing how bad he was at keeping this massive secret of the show a secret. Per Entertainment Weekly, he said:
I’m the most indiscreet person. When I was on The Good Wife and Will was murdered — do you remember Will was shot? — I told everyone.
In fact, the worst part about it all was that he even told a hairdresser about this secret before the stunning courtroom scene in season 5 even aired, who even he admits is “statistically the worst person” in front of whom you could spill your secrets. Continuing to open up about it, he said:
I remember once doing this fashion thing, and I sat down and a guy starts to do my hair, and he goes, ‘I’m a huge fan of The Good Wife,’ and I go, ‘Will dies!’ I mean, I told the hairdresser, who is statistically the worst person you can tell a secret to.
But the surprising part is that even though The Traitors star was so non-discreet about it all, spilling the beans because he couldn’t help it, somehow, that secret continued being a secret, not being ruined before anyone noticed!
Curiously enough, even his being so loud about it didn’t spoil the mystery

Stunningly enough, even in a world where the word goes around and things get spoiled with the minutest of details popping up, Alan Cumming’s being so loud about Will’s death didn’t ruin the heartbreaking moment for the fans. In fact, even the actor himself found himself dumbfounded at how, even after all that happened, the surprise didn’t get ruined for anyone.
Continuing to express his wonder at the same time during the press tour, he admitted with a laugh, “I can’t understand how that didn’t get out.” But while that’s that, at the same time, the X2 star also took it as a friendly reminder to keep the spoilers to himself going forward, as he proceeded to confess, “Since then, I’m very conscious of it.”
Well, good for him, unless he wanted to be termed the next Tom Holland!
The Good Wife is currently available to be streamed on Prime Video.
