For many Malaysians, balik kampung during Raya means long drives, traffic jams, and lots of snacks in the car.
But for one man, it also meant being on the road for a whopping 17 hours — all so he could celebrate the festive season with his loved ones in Kelantan.
27-hour drive was a typo
In a TikTok video posted by @mir2an, 26-year-old Muhammad Shazmizan shared clips of his journey from Pahang, which initially shocked netizens when the caption mistakenly claimed he drove for 27 hours.
Speaking to WeirdKaya, he clarified that it was actually 17 hours, not 27.
It was a typo. I drove for 17 hours in total. But I was the only driver,” he said.
Shazmizan said he powered through heavy traffic and fatigue with three stops throughout the entire trip just to be home in time for the celebrations.
I felt really happy to be able to feel the joyful festive atmosphere along the way,” he shared.
According to him, the traffic jams started after Kuantan and continued all the way until the Kuala Terengganu toll, which made the journey even more exhausting.
Despite that, his dedication clearly paid off — nothing beats the feeling of finally reaching home, especially during Raya.
Cannot be!
Many people doubted the hours as they shared their own experience.
Some suspected he must have chilled at the rest areas, which he really did, as mentioned above.
“Bragging about 27 hours… must’ve been chilling at the R&R stops.”
