One Piece Theory: Imu Is Uranus, the Third Ancient Weapon

The Supreme Leader of the World Government in One Piece, Imu, who sits on the empty throne, is one of the most mysterious characters in the series. His intentions and his identity have been kept a secret to make up for an enticing and thrilling revelation, most probably during the final war that will decide the fate of the One Piece world.

Among the many mysteries about Imu, the one that still startles fans the most is his access to the Ancient Weapon, Uranus, which he used to destroy an entire island and wipe it off the face of the One Piece world. It is one of the most dangerous weapons in history and thus makes Imu potentially the biggest antagonist of the series.

However, there are some aspects of Imu’s character that hint that Imu does not possess the Ancient Weapon, but he himself “is” the Ancient Weapon. If these speculations turn out to be true, it will bring a whole new twist to the One Piece story and his defeat will mean a big change to the One Piece world.

Imu’s abilities and powers are on a completely different level

Ever since Imu’s character was introduced in the story, there have been major hints about him being an immortal who has witnessed the change in One Piece’s history. He has evidently existed for centuries without aging and has also somehow bestowed this ability on his subordinates, the Five Elders of the World Government in One Piece.

Not only that, the way the Five Elders are afraid of Imu, as seen during the death of Jaygarcia Saturn, suggests that he has something more that makes him a true divine being. His orders are followed no matter what and going against them or failing to fulfill them instantly results in death.

This speculates that the Imu’s abilities make him a weaponized guardian who cannot age and has the power of absolute destruction. And the only thing that has existed through centuries and has the power to cause destruction of such level is an Ancient Weapon in One Piece, drawing an instant parallel between the two.

Imu’s silhouette and physical stature also make more sense after this

Imu’s identity has been the biggest concern for a lot of One Piece fans. The non-human stature and long silhouette make him look like a different entity that has never been seen before in the series. He does not possess a traditional human body, and when combined with his being immortal and extremely powerful adds more substance to the theory.

There is a chance that he might be created as the ultimate weapon by the Ancient Kingdom to maintain order and prevent war, but was taken into control by the Nobles who made him just like them. His decision to rule the world as a sentient being might be what he learned from them and is thus going to extreme lengths to follow them.

If this theory has any weight to it and Eiichiro Oda follows a similar plot for Imu, it will change the entire perspective towards the One Piece storyline. Not only that, fans will look at the One Piece history differently as the elements of Void Century and Ancient Kingdom will make more sense.
