The first season of Solo Leveling changed a few things in its adaptation by making a few fights harder for Jinwoo and giving extra attention to characters such as Baek Yoonho and Cha Hae In. Seeing this, the Manhwa fans tried to predict the changes that might occur in Season 2.

From fights lasting longer to certain events being changed, here are 5 Manhwa fan predictions about Solo Leveling’s Season 2 that were proved wrong by A-1 Pictures.
1. Metus would last longer in the anime

Several enemies stood in Sung Jinwoo’s way as he tried to conquer the Demon Castle. While many of these enemies were fodder, bosses would appear on the 50th and 75th floors. These bosses would have their own army, and their names would be red, signifying their strength.
While the boss of the 50th floor posed a challenge to Jinwoo, by the time he reached the 75th floor, he was so strong that he could take down its boss in a flash.

The boss, Metus, the Guide of the Departed Souls, was too weak to serve as a boss, and fans expected that the anime would make him stronger. Fans predicted that A-1 Pictures would make it so that the boss would last longer against Jinwoo since they had a similar skillset, but they were wrong.

Similarly to the manhwa, Jinwoo in the anime killed Metus in seconds. The anime did the boss dirtier. While manhwa Jinwoo needed Igris and Iron to clear the path to Metus, anime Jinwoo just used his speed to appear behind Metus, taking him down with ease.
2. Esil in the anime would be of more use

Esil Radiru became a fan-favorite character the moment she appeared in the manhwa. Being a demon noble, she attacked Jinwoo’s troops when they were clearing out demons for the entry permit to the higher floors.
After being confronted by Jinwoo and promising to help him clear the castle, Jinwoo decides to spare her clan.
She then guides him to the 100th floor of the Demon Castle, where they meet Baran, the Monarch of Flames. While she isn’t particularly active in the battle between Jinwoo and Baran, she does distract the monarch by throwing a dagger at him, allowing Jinwoo to gain the upper hand.
With strength equal to an S-Rank, Solo Leveling fans predicted that Esil would be an active combatant in the anime. Perhaps in the anime, she would help Jinwoo fight a few demons on the higher floors (her fighting Baran is out of the question).
This prediction, however, did not come to pass, and anime Esil, like her manhwa counterpart, stuck to the sidelines.
3. Season 2 of Solo Leveling would end with Jinwoo’s mother waking up

The only time Jinwoo didn’t actively pursue power was when he was scaling the Demon Castle. Solo Leveling made it clear that Jinwoo’s true aim behind wanting to clear the Demon Castle was to be able to craft the Elixir of Life to save this mother.
This was a key moment in the manhwa and showed a more human side of Jinwoo.
After the episode count for Solo Leveling’s Season 2 was released, fans predicted that the season wouldn’t be able to cover the events of the Jeju Island Raid and that it would end after Jinwoo cleared the Demon Castle and saved his mother.
This prediction made sense due to the episode count and the weight the moment would carry, but of course, as we all know by now, the season ended with the Jeju Island Raid being a success.
4. The anime would show Sung Il Hwan’s fight with Hwang Dongsoo

Hwang Dongsoo is a certified Sung Jinwoo hater and blames him for the death of his older brother, Hwang Dongsuk. While everyone knew that a clash between him and Jinwoo would be inevitable, no one predicted that he would have his butt handed to him by Jinwoo’s father.
Jinwoo’s father, Sung Il Hwan, who had just been rescued from a dungeon, met Dongsoo during an investigation, and after Dongsoo threatened his son, Sung Il Hwan clashed with the S-Ranker.
While the manhwa showed us the outcome, fans predicted that Solo Leveling’s anime adaptation would show us the fight as well. Perhaps we could see just how strong Jinwoo’s father was.
Did anyone get hyped when Hwang Dongsoo and sung ilhwan when they were about to fight then Hwang got folded like an omelette

The anime, however, proved everyone wrong by choosing to follow the manhwa. This decision makes sense since revealing Sung Il Hwan’s strength would dissolve the mystery around the character.
5. Norma Selner would appear at the end of Season 2

In the world of Solo Leveling, the strength of a person is decided based on their rank. Once a person awakens to a certain rank, breaking through the limits of the rank is impossible unless they reawaken (or unless they are Jinwoo).
This is why Norma Selner’s power in Solo Leveling is the most fascinating. Selner is an individual who can upgrade the strength of a hunter by 20-30%.

After the Jeju Island raid, Jinwoo received an offer from the American Hunting Association that if he were to move to America, he would be given access to Ms. Selner’s power.
While it is later revealed that Jinwoo’s system eliminates the need for such power, her introduction and ability surprised everyone.

Everyone expected that Season 2 of the Solo Leveling anime would end with Jinwoo shocking Ms. Selner with her power and then entering a red gate. The anime, however, decided to skip past these events.
Jinwoo did not receive an offer from America, nor did Ms. Selner make an appearance. Fans are now speculating that these events will take place in the first episode of the unannounced third season of Solo Leveling.
While several of these predictions made sense due to factors such as pacing and episode count, A-1 Pictures ultimately decided to go their own way. In certain episodes, they stayed true to the events of the manhwa, while in a few others, they went off-track, making it quite harder to predict certain events.
Solo Leveling is available to stream on Crunchyroll.
