The three pirates that left Wano to take on a new journey in One Piece, Eustass Kid, Trafalagar D. Water Law, and Monkey D. Luffy have all had to face the dangers of the New World in the form of Emperors, Pirates, and the World Government. And while I am happy that two of them have somehow managed to survive the battles and move forward, I felt bad for the one who did not have such great luck.
This character is none other than Eustass Kid, who was on a search for the man marked by flames but had to face the wrath of Red-Haired Shanks, resulting in his absolute defeat in One Piece. However, I have heard rumors on the internet that Kid’s journey has not yet ended and he will make a return to the series during the conclusion of Elbaph or during the final war.

But his return might be facilitated by the first immortal created by the Ope Ope no Mi in One Piece, who is none other than the infamous Davy Jones. Davy Jones is a mythical pirate who has been mentioned in One Piece in the past and might also be the man marked by flames that the character Kid was searching for in the first place.
The incomplete ending of Eustass Kid in One Piece
When Eustass Kid was first introduced in One Piece, it felt to me that he was on the same status as Luffy in the pirate world, in terms of bounty, fame, and power. Thus, I had big expectations from his character, and he certainly lived up to most of them, as seen during the Wano arc, especially in the battle of Onigashima, where he, along with Law, defeated Big Mom.
And when the final saga started, I was excited to see that he was one of the very few contenders in the race for the One Piece treasure. But his fate was sealed when he reached Elbaph and met his old enemy in the form of Shanks, who had already defeated him in the past. The result of their confrontation was the same this time too, only this time Eustass Kid was completely defeated.
And while it was portrayed like his journey in One Piece had ended, I was not convinced that his development would end so early in the final saga. Just like me, many other One Piece fans believe that he might make a comeback during a crucial moment in the story and once again make himself known as a significant character.
Eustass Kid’s return would introduce a legendary character
I have come across some of the greatest theories and speculations about Kid’s return in One Piece, but the one that I am convinced might come true involves the infamous Davy Jones, who was a legendary pirate in the One Piece storyline and was paid homage to in the Davy Back Fight. According to the theory, Davy Jones was the first user of the Ope Ope no Mi.

He used the Devil Fruit to make himself immortal(in a way) by storing his heart away, just like he did in the myth about him. I also believe that Davy Jones is a Fish-Man who is living under Elbaph and currently holds the last poneglyph, making him the much-awaited man marked by flames. The theory also speculates that Shanks intentionally took Kid down in order to send him to Davy Jones.
This would not only fulfill Kid’s journey in One Piece, but also make up for a perfect introduction of the man marked by flames. Not only that, it would also rectify Shanks’ image as he was criticized for mercilessly defeating the Kid Pirates. I am excited to see how Eiichiro Oda will play a twist on Kid’s return and his connection to the man marked by flames.
