This week’s episode of Suits LA saw a heavyweight boxing fight in the courtroom. Kevin and Erica hold the truth about the night of Simon’s murder but don’t tell Ted, leading to him looking bad in court. As he continues to take it on the chin from the district attorney, Ted seeks an old friend (and no enemy) to help get the case back on track.

Why did Lester Thompson kill Simon?
Kevin forces Lester to record a confession about everything that unfolded the night of the murder. Lester confronted Simon about the money he was stealing, and things went crazy quick, with Simon pulling the gun. The duo battled for the gun, leading to the gun pointing to Simon’s head, and Lester said it was either him or me and pulled the trigger. Lester said that was the honest truth, and Kevin said he believed him.
Stuart confronts Erica outside the courtroom, saying Ted is losing the case. Erica shuts down his poaching claims, but Stuart said to remember the offer when the ship sinks and Ted loses the case.
Ted puts Amanda on the stand in order to put pressure on the district attorney’s case. Amanda and Elizabeth’s history led to her clients being murdered. While her being put on the stand helped at first, Elizabeth’s cross-examination again put another dagger in Ted’s case.
Erica asks Rick why Stuart is trying to poach her away from Ted. Rick didn’t have a clue about it and confronts Stuart in front of Samantha, who had no clue that he attempted that. Rick storms out in frustration, and Samantha tells Stuart not to pull any antics behind her back.
Who does Ted get to help with Lester’s trial?
Elizabeth throws a wrench in the trial by finding a witness who says she saw Lester Thompson kills his business partner Simon. In between breaks, Ted freaks out because he realizes that Kevin knew that Lester was guilty. Lester revealed that he killed Simon in self-defense, which is what Stuart initially wanted to have Lester plead before Ted took the case from him. With his back against the wall, he heads to Stuart to ask him for help, and although he was upset, Stuart always keeps his oath to help his clients.

After spending all night working on the case together, Stuart figures out a way for Ted to get Lester to change his plea to Not Guilty by reason of Self Defense. Elizabeth states nothing on record had been introduced stating Simon wanted to kill Lester. However, Ted points out that in the divorce papers that she introduced to the case, Valerie Thompson stated that Simon wanted to kill Lester.
As a result of the files being introduced earlier in the trail, the judge allows Ted to submit a new plea for Lester and allows him to continue his testimony in light of the new plea. Lester testifies in front of the court that it was self-defense, and Ted gives his closing arguments to the jury. We get a montage of the jury announcing that Lester Thompson had been found Not Guilty. There was a huge ovation and big applause by Ted and his team in the courtroom.
After an emotional day in the courtroom, Ted heads over to Samantha’s firm to apologize for an old case and admit that he should’ve been there when she needed him.
