300,000 Newcastle United fans packed out the city on Saturday to celebrate the club’s incredible cup triumph.
But even with Ant and Dec in town, it was a forgotten SPFL star who managed to steal the show!

Newcastle ended their long, long wait for a trophy earlier this month.
The Toon beat Liverpool 2-1 at Wembley a couple of weeks ago to secure the Carabao Cup, their first major domestic silverware for 70 years.
And as you might expect, the fans wanted to celebrate it.
Thousands of fans packed out the city centre and outside St James’ Park as their heroes made their way through Newcastle on an open top bus.
After the bus parade, the players made their way to Town Moor where many addressed their adoring and jubilant fans.
The huge party so appearances from the likes of Ant and Dec and legendary Newcastle striker Alan Shearer.
But it was a moment from a former Motherwell goalkeeper that arguably stole the show!
In a team full of top global superstars, Mark Gillespie certainly isn’t one of the Magpies’ biggest stars.
In fact, the 32-year old has NEVER made a league appearance for the club.
Gillespie has, however, become a Toon cult hero among the fans.
Born and bred in Newcastle, Gillespie came through the youth ranks at the club before moving to Carlisle United as a 16-year old.
He spent seven years there, many as first choice keeper, before spending the 2017-18 season with Walsall.
Gillespie then enjoyed two years in Scotland with Motherwell.
He was the Steelmen’s No1 and made 57 Scottish Premiership appearances.
After being an ever-present in the 2019/20 campaign, Gillespie left Motherwell.
Weeks later, he completed a stunning return to his boyhood club, signing a three-year deal.
That deal was extended and Gillespie is now almost five years a Newcastle player.
He hasn’t appeared in a competitive game, however, since the 2020/21 campaign.
He played three times in the Carabao Cup and has never featured agian.
Gillespie was front and centre of the post-match celebrations at Wembley, holding the trophy and receiving a medal.
He was once again at the centre of the wild celebrations in the city this weekend.
One of the highlights of the big event saw Gillespie grab the mic – before serenading one of his teammates!
Leading the crowd in a chant for teammate Joelinton, the goalie dropped an F-bomb in front of the fans!
He sang: “He’s Brazilian, he only cost £40million!
“We think he’s f*****g brilliant, he’s Joelinton! He’s Brazilian!, he only cost £40million!”
Gillespie then told the crowd: “Bruno’s going to pay for my holiday now!”
Unfortunately for the BBC, they cut to live coverage of Newcastle’s celebrations at the EXACT moment Gillespie was chanting.
Just before 20 to 6, the BBC News channel captured the exact moment Gillespie dropped the F-bomb.
One fan joked on X: “I’m not sure that bit will make the 10 o’clock news!”
Other supporters took to social media after the keeper’s starring moment.
One demanded: “Mark Gillespie lifetime contract please.”
Similarly, a second said: “Mark Gillespie lifetime contract now.”
While another added: “Bruno and Mark Gillespie got me dying here.”
Toon skipper Bruno Guimaraes also dropped a few swear words as he addressed the crowd, despite Ant and Dec warning him to keep it clean!
Unfortunately for the BBC, Bruno’s swearing was ALSO broadcast on live TV.
