As soon as Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck called it quits on their two-year marriage, many assumed Lopez would go right back into the dating pool. Since they split, she’s been linked to fellow celebrities like Kevin Costner and Ted Lasso star Brett Goldstein; but neither may be the real deal.
Sources told People what single life for Lopez is actually like right now.
“She’s focused on work and is not dating,” a source told the outlet. “She’s happy as it is.”
They added, “Life goes on and if anyone can move forward and be positive about it, it’s Jennifer. She sees everything as a lesson. She was hurt by their sudden separation and Ben’s unwillingness to not work on their marriage. She really wanted it to work out.”
While we’re happy Lopez seems to be thriving in the single life, fans are wondering: what about Goldstein and Costner?
Earlier this month, Lopez and Goldstein fueled romance rumors by attending a performance of Oh, Mary! on Broadway to support co-star Betty Gilpin.
This news came a few months after Deadline reported that Lopez and Goldstein are set to star in a romantic comedy that will debut on Netflix, which Goldstein wrote alongside Ted Lasso writer Joe Kelly.
“After a very tough start to 2025, Jennifer can’t wait to start a new project and it certainly helps that she will be working with a very handsome and smart star like Brett. He is one hot ticket and a real class act with talent to back it up—he not only acts but he writes amazing scripts. He is like the younger, better, British version of Ben. She thinks he is very cute,” a source said to Daily Mail, hinting that while their may be an attraction, that’s all there is right now.
As for Costner, he and Lopez’s dating rumors started months prior, in Dec 2024.
Costner and Lopez were romantically linked after they were spotted together on December 27 in celebrity hotspot Kemo Sabe in Aspen, Colorado.
In photos obtained by Page Six, the two appeared to be standing with the same group enjoying a drink but they were not actually photographed together. Sources also told Life and Style Magazine on Jan. 15 that both Costner and Lopez’s pals are into their potential romance.
“Timing is everything, so there’s certainly a chance these two could make a go of it. Plus, pals on both sides think that J. Lo and Kevin would make a super fun match,” they said.
However, before Lopez’s sources confirmed she was single, Costner’s people said the same about him. “He is not seriously involved with anyone and not necessarily looking for anything more than that right now,” the source revealed to People in Jan 2025.
For those who don’t know, Lopez and her ex-husband Affleck met on the set of the film Gigli. They started dating soon after and got engaged by the end of 2002. However, they were broken up by 2004 after canceling their wedding days prior to it.
Then, in 2021, Lopez and Affleck rekindled their romance. A year later, they got engaged and married in a lavish ceremony. However, they then filed for divorce in 2024, per the New York Times. As of Feb 2025, they’re divorced, and now living their single lives again.
