There’s a certain hint of pain when an announced project turns out to be indefinitely shelved forever. Millions of fans around the world might be feeling that pain right now because the MCU did just that.
Although unconfirmed, it is almost a guarantee that Mahershala Ali’s Blade has been put on ice for an indefinite time. However, that doesn’t mean it’s the end for an amazing character.
Mahershala Ali’s Blade will not see the light of day
Well, it had been quite a long time since the world had heard any updates about the previously announced Marvel film Blade. Announced back in 2019, the world waited patiently and excitedly for the action-packed jam.
A while ago, it was revealed that Mahershala Ali’s Blade has been put on hold for a little while until the MCU focused on Avengers: Doomsday and the Jonathan Majors incident.
However, the world started forgetting about Blade slowly until Wesley Snipes gave a cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine. A speculation by an insider states that Blade might just be put on indefinite hold.
While Mahershala Ali is still attached all these years later, despite some of the talk that he was being difficult about approving scripts, from what I’m hearing the “Blade” movie is essentially nixed for now.

That is unfortunate news for the world indeed. If the case turns out to be true, the world will surely miss out big-time on an action-packed film that could have been one of the finest (especially with rumors of Chad Stahelski being the director).
Although Mahershala Ali’s Blade might have been put on ice for an indefinite amount of time, it doesn’t mean that the character will not be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in other projects!

It’s not all bad news since an indefinite hold in the MCU doesn’t necessarily mean that the show will never get made. There could be a time when the world will get Ali’s Blade film eventually.
With an alleged indefinite hold, there are other supporting rumors that Mahershala Ali’s Blade will appear in other MCU projects sooner. Rumor has it that the character will appear in other MCU projects like Marvel’s Midnight Sons or Avengers: Secret Wars.
Blade will likely be introduced formally in either the still-developing “Midnight Suns” movie or “Avengers: Secret Wars,” or possibly as a supporting character in another movie—like the way Namor was first introduced in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”

He could also appear as a side character like Tenoch Huerta’s Namor in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Eventually, he could get his own movie after getting a brief introduction in other projects.
As much as the world would love to see Blade getting his own film, nothing can be confirmed or denied at the moment, as these remain mere speculations after all.
With an initial release date of November 2025, Mahershala Ali’s Blade has been removed from the 2025 calendar. Only time can tell when the world will get to see the continued vampire-hunting adventures of Blade.
