Highways are full of surprises, but one Malaysian driver got the shock of her life when a monkey suddenly hopped onto her car bonnet—and refused to leave.
Recently, TikTok user @imsal_72 shared a now-viral video of a monkey casually sitting on the bonnet of a moving car, seemingly enjoying the breeze.
What made it even funnier? The little primate even did a cute dance mid-ride, as if celebrating its unexpected road trip.
I thought it would jump off… but it didn’t
Speaking exclusively to WeirdKaya, the driver revealed that the monkey jumped onto her car as she was exiting a junction on her way home from work.
“I thought it would jump off,” she said.

She recalled that several motorcyclists were pointing at her car, trying to signal that something was on it.
It wasn’t until she stopped at a traffic light and turned around that she finally saw it—a monkey casually chilling on her car bonnet.
Even with people trying to shoo it away, the monkey refused to move. Left with no choice, she kept driving at 60km/h to 80km/h, stopping at multiple traffic lights, yet her stubborn little hitchhiker wouldn’t budge.
A firefighter rescue mission
Realising the monkey wasn’t planning to leave anytime soon, she made a bold decision—to drive all the way to the Taman Tun Dr Ismail fire station for help.
There, firefighters finally managed to coax the monkey down, ending its unexpected adventure.
Well, looks like this monkey really took “balik kampung” to heart!
