Andrew Lartey, 30, and his pillion passenger Georgia Tate, 23, were killed in the smash on their Kawasaki ZX1400 motorbike between Bonchester Bridge and Carter Bar.

The couple were both from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.

Jason Gibbon, 37, who was riding his Suzuki GSXR, was also pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say a 32-year-old man has now been charged in connection with causing death by dangerous driving.

He appeared at Jedburgh Sheriff Court today.

A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Andrew and Georgia’s families previously paid tribute to the pair, saying they were “devastated by the loss”.

A statement released through Police Scotland read: “We are devastated by the loss of Georgia and Andrew, they will be sorely missed by all who knew them.”

Jason’s family were also left heartbroken following the death of the much-loved son, brother and boyfriend.

His family said at the time: “We are devastated by the loss of a much loved son, brother, uncle, boyfriend and devoted friend to many.

“He will be greatly, sadly missed. We are comforted by the messages from many.”
