Kanye West can easily be a powerhouse to be reckoned with in the music industry with several chart topping hits to his name. But despite this popularity, he keeps the headlines buzzing for all the wrong reasons. While his love story with Kim Kardashian was loved by everyone, it wasn’t his first relationship that had a huge impact on his life.

In fact, long before he married and settled with Kardashian, he actually dated Brooke Crittendon for a brief period. And apart from his personal life, she also had a huge impact on his music career. So, much so that he was ready to change lyrics just because she didn’t like it.
Kanye West used to change his lyrics for Brooke Crittendon
Kanye West has dated many high profile ladies from the industry, but his marriage to Kim Kardashian was one of the most publicized. While their subsequent divorce also kept the headlines buzzing, long before he met Kardashian there was another woman who was quite important for him. This was Brooke Crittendon, who was an MTV assistant and had a surprising influence on his music as well.

While this relationship wasn’t widely known as his other romances, it was intense enough that she had a say in his creative process as well. As reported by Rolling Stone she once said “Because if I tell him I don’t like something, he’ll cut it.” This one statement alone detailed just how important she was for the rapper. The two were often spotted together, including their highly publicized 2006 Grammy’s appearance.
At this point they had been dating for over a year and spent a lot of time together. She even travelled to see him when he was busy in his music studio. West is known for seeing input from others when making his music. But when it came to Brooke Crittendon her opinion mattered even more.
But their timing had other plans and despite having a strong connection they broke up by the summer of 2006. While she eventually stepped away from the spotlight, the duo parted ways amicably.
Kim Kardashian talked about her first marriage and the subsequent divorce
Kim Kardashian, along with her sisters, knows how to stay in the spotlight. But in this she would definitely be ahead of everyone when it comes to having some of the most interesting relationships out there. Long before she married rapper Kanye West and NBA player Kris Humphries, she was actually married to music producer Damon Thomas.

While this relationship is often overlooked, in an interview via Buzzfeed she opened about that chapter of her life and reflected on the challenges she faced. Given that she was in her early twenties when she married Thomas, after their divorce she faced a great deal of financial struggles. During this time, her sister Khloe Kardashian stood by her and helped her start over.
At the age of 21, Kim Kardashian was in need of a new place to live but she lacked the money for it. That’s when her sister stopped in and Kim Kardashian added “She had this giant piggy bank that was almost as tall as us.” It had a lot of money and she didn’t even hesitate before offering the same to her.
Not only this, but both of them spent the entire night counting the money, which added up to $6,000. This was just enough for her down payment and cover her initial rents.
Kim Kardashian got married to Thomas in 2000 and got divorced in 2004. After this she married NBA player Chris Humphries in 2011, and their marriage infamously lasted a total of 72 days before she filed for divorce. In 2014 she married Kanye West and this relationship too came to an end in 2022.
