Daredevil: Born Again is set to feature the Punisher as one of the chief characters in its story, and that seems to be that this might echo some real-life issues that have come to be associated with the character. The Punisher is going to have a very deep and complicated storyline that is going to focus on some themes that have allegedly been long overdue for the character.

A few characters that are linked to the police have been seen in promos sporting a tattoo that seems oddly inspired by The Punisher, and The Kingpin also singled the vigilante out in his speech when he was talking about vigilante violence (along with Spider-Man and Daredevil). This could look into themes and issues that have plagued the real world and have become inadvertently linked to the Punisher.
Daredevil: Born Again might explore how The Punisher has been linked to police action in the MCU and the real world

The Punisher has found himself linked to the Blue Lives Matter movement in the real world, which is odd given the attitude that the character has in the comic. The MCU seems to be moving toward the relationship that law enforcement has with the character, especially when to the franchise’s version of the movement. This is slightly corroborated by Dario Scrdapane, who talked about how the story that is going to be explored with The Punisher was a long time coming. He said (via IGN):
Frank comes into our world with a purpose. That purpose is executed. Does it have something to do with these men that we see in that apartment? Yes.
The characters in question came at the tail end of the second episode of Daredevil: Born Again, where the police officers who were trying to meddle with Hector Ayala’s case were seen with tattoos that were reminiscent of the Punisher skull emblem. How they might have co-opted The Punisher’s symbol might be something that the show explores, along with how it ties in Daredevil’s investigation into Fisk’s activities when it comes to neutralizing vigilantes in the MCU.
The Punisher has made his stance on the police very clear

The Punisher has found himself linked with the Blue Lives Matter movement, and it seems that Marvel comics took notice of this. A particular issue of The Punisher comic, Punisher issue #13, saw Frank Castle actually take some policemen on task for idealizing him, which might be the main plot of Daredevil: Born Again in the weeks to come. With extrajudicial killings and such becoming the law of the land thanks to the likes of Daredevil, and the Punisher, which Fisk, as the Mayor of New York, might leverage to keep the vigilantes out of his various businesses.
This might even link the main plot of the story to Foggy Nelson’s death, who has been rumored to actually be alive and in witness protection, thanks to some easter eggs that eagle-eyed fans have noticed. This could be a very calculated plot to take Wilson Fisk down, once and for all, complicated by the fact that he is now the Mayor of NYC.
Daredevil: Born Again is currently streaming on Disney+.
