Shane Lowry rockets up world rankings to hit career-high after Arnold Palmer Invitational

Ireland’s Shane Lowry began the day with a two-shot lead over Wyndham Clark but slipped down the leaderboard, with a four-over 76 leaving him six adrift on four under.

Shane Lowry ended seventh on six-under after a final-day 70 as he earned his third top-15 finish in five events this season.

The 37-year-old entered the 2025 campaign ranked 28th in the world, and his solid form continued into the first quarter of the Tour’s season.

Coming into last week’s Signature event at Bay Hill the Clara star was ranked number 17 in the world.

He now surpasses his best ever position on the world rankings as he climbed up three places to number 14.

His prior career-high was 16 after his 2019 Open win at Royal Portrush.

Meanwhile, America’s Russell Henley bagged the biggest title of his career at Arnold’s course.

He bags a cool $4million after winning the fifth Signature event of the PGA Tour’s 2025 season.

The 35-year-old from Georgia was three shots behind playing partner Collin Morikawa standing on the 14th tee before he snatched and unlikely chip-in eagle to claim the lead, which he saw out to claim victory.

Speaking to CBS after the round, he said: “Hats off to Collin, he played great, super-steady, but sometimes golf is just mean like that.

“I was so nervous, so unbelievably nervous. Look, I can’t breathe right now. It’s so hard and so difficult around this place.

“I got a good break there (on 16), I holed another one there yesterday on the first hole from the bunker and had a couple of hole-outs off the green this week.

“I just tried to stay really tough. I’ve watched Tiger (Woods) make a lot of putts on this green.

“I’ve watched Rory (McIlroy), Fran (Francesco Molinari) and Bryson (DeChambeau) make winning putts here, and it’s cool to know I did it too.”
