“Nobody yet has done that”: The Blood of Dawnwalker Will Feature a Superhero Duality That Hasn’t Been Explored in Games Yet

The master director behind The Witcher 3, Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, has slightly different plans for his upcoming The Blood of Dawnwalker. In this game, Rebel Wolves, the developer behind the game is experimenting with a different approach to character design.

Tomaszkiewicz wants to present the world with a protagonist that has some sort of duality in nature, where he is often conflicted between good and evil. The way he does this is by turning him into a bloodthirsty vampire by night and a mere powerless, empathetic human by day.

The Blood of Dawnwalker does not aim to be a superhero game

Tomaszkiewicz has raised concerns about creating a game revolving around a superhero. He wants to take on a different approach this time around, and the way he chooses to do so is by putting it into the hands of players and testing their morality.

In The Blood of Dawnwalker, it will completely be in the hands of the player whether they want to choose a path of a villain or a hero. One can also be both. This director wants to present the players with this morality test.

During an interview with PC Gamer, Tomaszkiewicz talked about this unique approach towards character development that has not yet been explored in video games. He said:

It’s somehow interesting, this duality of the hero, which we know from Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, for example. It’s something in pop culture that is well-known and wasn’t yet explored in games. It gives you a different layer to those no-realities, and I think it would be quite interesting because nobody yet has done that. And we will see how people will like it.

By taking a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde approach for his protagonist in The Blood of Dawnwalker, the director aims at creating a complex character and wants to give full control over its actions in the hands of the player.

It is rare to see such duality in the nature of a character in games

Video games often tend to portray white and black characters; there are very few who flourish in the gray areas. However, there are still a few games that have tried to mend the good and bad elements into a single character, but The Blood of Dawnwalker takes a different approach to it.

In The Blood of Dawnwalker, it will completely be in the hands of the player to give into the impulse of causing mayhem or take a more saintly-like approach. This game offers a great adventure.

As a vampire in the night, the character will thirst for blood and kill. It will completely be in the hands of the player to go the dark route or embrace the light and approach the game with less violence. It will be interesting to see how this unique gameplay experiment plays out once the game releases. Do you like this dual nature of the game’s protagonist? Let us know in the comments below.
