The Z fighters have been growing stronger and protecting the Earth (as well as the universe), but one of them has been left behind. It is Piccolo, the friendly neighborhood Namekian who had dedicated himself to training the next generation when he found that he could no longer keep up with the Saiyans.
But this all changed with Piccolo’s Orange transformation. This was a game-changer in Dragon Ball Super, making him stronger than ever and bringing him back to the frontlines.
Piccolo was one of the most intriguing characters in Dragon Ball, and many fans were disappointed when he was relegated to the position of spectator. But is this a blessing or a curse? Could Piccolo turn into something sinister and turn on humans?
Could Orange Piccolo rival Ultra Instinct and Ultra Ego?
Goku and Vegeta have earned their power through intense training, a lot of battles, and a lot of combat experience. On the contrary, Piccolo’s new strength came as a direct wish from Shenron.
It is not one that is within him innately (most of it was, but Shenron threw in a little bit of extra boost as well). So, if it does not truly belong to him, will there be any side effects?
This is an artificial boost- and it is unlike any that the Z fighters have ever gotten before. Even while just unlocking hidden powers, there seem to be a lot of mysteries within the Namekian race.
Not only do they create and guard Dragon Balls (which can manipulate reality to grant wishes), but they also seem to have Demon Realm connections (Dragon Ball DAIMA). If even humans can have limitless potential, then what about the Namekians?
Thus, when Piccolo’s strength surged (and he turned orange), it might have been a happy event. But such naturally gained power means a higher risk of losing control. The divine energy of Shenron within him could slowly corrupt and confuse him.
Is Piccolo destined to become a villain again?
It can be seen that there are a lot of changes in Piccolo’s personality after he changes. Throughout Dragon Ball, we have seen that power one hasn’t worked hard for always comes at a cost.
That is what makes the journey important and crucial. We can see instances like Vegeta’s Majin form, Broly’s uncontrollable rage, and Gohan’s early transformations.
Piccolo is wise and composed, but he may be changing subtly and being corrupted by the divine power slowly. His power could rival the Ultra Instinct and Ultra Ego of Goku and Vegeta.
Unlike Goku’s Ultra Instinct, which is built on speed and focus, and Vegeta’s Ultra Ego, which is all about taking damage, Piccolo’s potential new form could be something like Broly’s- unbridled power, pure and destructive.
Piccolo could lose his mind and give in to his instincts. Piccolo has come a long way since his days as a villain in Dragon Ball, but could his coming back into the limelight mean that he has to go back to the dark side again? How will Goku fight his friend if he turns against him? Can Gohan go against his teacher and mentor?
