Meet the Turkish Rangers diehard who lives 4,000km from Ibrox but named his triplets Red, White and Blue in their honour

RANGERS fans are scattered all over the globe – but few have a more diverting backstory than Gino from Marmaris.

The Turkish-based Gers fan resides more than 4,000km away from Govan in Marmaris but his credentials for diehard status are crystal clear.

As he revealed in a video clip for BBC Sport Scotland, not only has Gino been supporting the Ibrox men for 38 years from afar, but his love for the club is such that he called his triplets Red, White and Blue in the club’s honour.

Of course he was going to make the eight-hour drive from Marmaris to Istanbul for the Europa League clash with Fenerbahce.

He said: “I’m 52 and I think I’ve supported them since I was 14.”

Asked if he’s a very passionate Rangers fan he said: “Yes, I am. Look (shows Rangers ring).

“It is a long way, driving around eight hours. But I can drive 80 hours no problem, that is Rangers.”

The BBC presenter than asks “.. and your children, they are growing up Rangers supporters as well?”

He replied: “It is something magical to me. God gives me triplets and we call them Red White and Blue.”

It’s quite a revelation and again the presenter double checks: “That’s their names?

“Red, White and Blue? That’s an incredible story.”

Gino replies: “My name is Gino and my triplets are called Red, White and Blue.”
