Carrie Underwood Says Her Kids Inherited Musicality and Hockey Playing Skills

Carrie Underwood proudly revealed that both of her kids inherited her musicality while one has husband Mike Fisher’s hockey playing skills as she gave a rare update on the couple’s two sons.

“Do they have your musical gifts?” Kelly Ripa questioned the American Idol sensation about her two children — 10-year-old Isaiah Fisher and 6-year-old Jacob Fisher — on a Wednesday, March 5, episode of Live With Kelly and Mark.

“They both can carry a tune. I feel like our oldest, Isaiah, probably has the biggest chance of heading in that direction,” Carrie, 41, gushed. “Jake likes hockey. So we may have a little of both because my husband’s a retired NHL player.”

Kelly, 54, quipped that Jake’s preferred sport might come with some downsides. “Not hockey! You know when they become a teenager and they go through puberty, hockey hands, the smell is a real thing,” she said. “The gloves smell!” her cohost and husband, Mark Consuelos, added.

“He’s six, and everything already stinks. It’s disgusting,” Carrie admitted.

Carrie previously dished that her kids didn’t get to see her during her American Idol days, but noted how much they enjoy seeing their mom show off her talents on the small screen.

The season 4 American Idol winner is making her highly anticipated return to the show that started her career, but this time, she is stepping in as its newest judge when it premieres on March 9.

“They love seeing me on TV. But even with younger kids who obviously did not see me on American Idol or early in my career, to some kiddos, [Saturday Night Football] is what they know me from,” she told Yahoo Entertainment. “So I’ll take it. That’s really amazing.”

Carrie and Mike have been married for nearly 15 years. The power couple tied the knot in July 2010 and went on to welcome son Isaiah in February 2015 and son Jake in January 2019.

She spoke about how motherhood changed her for the better in 2017, revealing it completely transformed her life and gave her an even greater purpose.

“I remember when we first found out we were gonna have [Isaiah], it [was] like, ‘How are we gonna do this? Our lives are so crazy as it is,’” she admitted to People at the time. “But you just make room, and you learn how important that family time is, and to be able to spend time and carve out some of that and maybe get to go on vacation and maybe get to go on a cruise — that stuff is so important to, like I said, make time for family. That’s what it’s all about.”

The “Give Her That” hitmaker has continued to make a name for herself, topping the country charts and utilizing her incredible singing voice while performing at President Donald Trump’s inauguration in January.

“I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event,” she said in a statement. “I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future.”
