Tabitha Ayilla has dismissed criticisms of the NPP’s economic management, arguing that the party has performed far better than the National Democratic Congress (NDC), even under tougher global conditions.
She highlighted the impact of external crises, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, on Ghana’s economy while defending the government’s approach to handling them.
“There were already existing vulnerabilities in the economy, but then you talk about external waves like COVID-19, and you think the economy would still stand on its feet? No, you’ll be kidding yourself,” she remarked on GHOne TV monitored by MyNewsGH
She insisted that despite these challenges, the NPP outperformed the NDC in terms of economic growth and infrastructure. “Even without COVID, the NDC couldn’t give us this type of growth. Even without COVID, the NDC couldn’t keep the lights on for us,” she argued.
Ayilla maintained that the NPP had steered the country through turbulent times and achieved results the previous administration had failed to deliver, reinforcing her belief that the ruling party’s economic policies were superior.
