Daredevil: Born Again – Matt Murdock’s Worst Fear Is Yet to Come With Karen Page and I’m Now Sure It’s Following the Original Comics

Spoiler Alert !!!
This article contains spoilers for Daredevil: Born Again.

Daredevil: Born Again opened its first episode with a downward spiral, killing off Elden Henson’s Foggy and setting Matt down a path of indecision, at least when it comes to being Daredevil. While his law practice seems to be thriving, Matt’s only motivation to come out of retirement was Wilson Fisk.

While Matt has all sorts of coping mechanisms that could have helped him figure out Foggy’s death, Karen might be on her way to following her comics route, which puts her in a very dark place in her life, and also in the narrative.

Karen Page has a rich romantic history with Matt Murdock, but it is also responsible for one of the biggest betrayals that the character faced in the comics: she sold Matt’s secret identity to the Kingpin for a dose of heroin. While Karen’s substance abuse has been explored in the past in the show, there is a possibility that the character will relapse to cope with the death of Foggy Nelson.

While fans rejoiced that Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson would return to reprise their roles in Daredevil: Born Again, the reality was that they would be split up in the first episode itself. Foggy Nelson would die, and as a result, Karen Page would move to San Francisco.

This caused a Matt to endure at least the first two episodes of the show by himself. Given that these two characters featured heavily in the marketing, and Henson seems to be gone for good, Daredevil: Born Again could expand its story to focus on Karen’s struggles as well.

Karen and Matt left things unresolved as of the first episode of the show, and the former was a no-show in the rest of its double premiere. Karen might appear in other episodes, with a focus on her downward spiral which could get her addicted to substances again, putting her on the radar of Kingping and Venessa.

Given that there would be other characters that pop up to fight Matt as well, Karen, like in the comics, could accidentally make things worse for Matt through her substance abuse.

Daredevil: Born Again might start building out the long-term plan that Wilson Fisk has in mind

Daredevil: Born Again might not see Wilson Fisk’s entire story reach its resolution. Given that his narrative stretches back to Hawkeye, it might not be as surprising if the character ends up appearing in some other shows and films in the MCU to finish his story.

Echo, Hawkeye and even Spider-Man might be involved in finishing up the Kingpin’s story, along with other vigilantes that may or may not get involved with Daredevil. This could include The Defenders, characters like Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk, and even characters like Moon Knight and Wonder Man.

The Punisher is set to make his appearance in Daredevil: Born Again, who will probably be the first step that Matt takes towards building out a team to take on Wilson Fisk, who seems to be going after vigilantes regardless of what their association is. However, it remains to be seen how Fisk differentiates between who qualifies as a vigilante, which might become a plot point as the Avengers are assembled

Daredevil: Born Again is currently streaming on Disney+.
