Dracula’s Second Chance with Lisa in ‘Castlevania’s’ Finale Is Just Fool’s Gold for a Worst Ending

Netflix’s Castlevania wouldn’t have been the same without Lisa and Dracula’s deaths. If Lisa wasn’t killed, Dracula wouldn’t have gone on a rampage. There would have been no revenge, and Alucard probably wouldn’t have met Sypha and Trevor either. Lisa and Dracula’s relationship was integral for the narrative to unfold the way it did.

The finale of the series came full circle as it brought back Lisa and Dracula. This narrative decision sparked some questions, as there wasn’t a proper explanation of how these two returned. Despite the questions and confusion, it was a positive development.

It was great to see Dracula return to his happy place, having a conversation with his beloved. However, as heartwarming as it was to see them together, this development doesn’t change anything in the long run.

Dracula and Lisa’s return in Castlevania is great but futile

Lisa’s death led Dracula down a path of destruction, leading to his own death eventually. Lisa was killed by the church, whereas Dracula chose to die by Alucard’s hands. To everyone’s surprise, both these characters were revealed to be alive at the end of the final season. Dracula’s smile was an evident suggestion of his feelings and Lisa seemed to be at ease.

Both of them discussed what they would be doing next, and even thought about seeing Alucard. While we have no idea where their story is headed, this twist doesn’t change anything for either of them. It’s safe to assume that Lisa is still a human, considering how Dracula was in love with her innocence as a human.

If that is indeed the case, then she’ll eventually pass away, leaving Dracula on his own. However, the ending could be happier this time around as Dracula might get to accompany Lisa as she ages and eventually withers away. With how things ended, there’s no clear direction on what we’ll get to see next. However, it was a great twist to keep fans intrigued.

A great way to keep fans intrigued about the future

Castlevania fans are always trying to figure out where the story is headed. They already have many questions about Castlevania: Nocturne Season 3. With Lisa and Dracula’s return, they have something new to look forward to. The story could explain their return or their journey. They discussed that they might travel together, or return to the castle later down the line.

Although it seems unlikely for now, Lisa also mentioned the possibility of providing Alucard with a closure. A potential reunion between the three is enough to get any Castlevania fan excited about the future of the series. All in all, it’s great to keep fans curious, but Dracula still has the same heartbreak awaiting him in the future.

Castlevania is available to stream on Netflix.
