Daredevil: Born Again Episode 2 Recap and Spoiler Review — Who is the White Tiger?

The second episode of Daredevil: Born Again is a terrific outing, showing fans the dangers of being a hero without a badge in New York City. It features an intense performance by Charlie Cox, and his Matt Murdock is visibly starting to come apart at the seams. Also, Vincent D’Onofrio may be even more chilling, as his Fisk’s brutal ways are always brooding under the surface.

The pilot of Daredevil: Born Again was full of surprises. First, Foggy was murdered by Dex. After his death, Karen moved away, only returning for the trial. Even though Matt wants her to stay, she leaves but gives him a piece of his broken mask before she goes. Kirsten sets Matt up with Heather, a psychologist.

Meanwhile, Fisk wins the mayoral race.

Disney’s Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 Episode 2 Recap: Who is the White Tiger?

The White Tiger is Hector Ayala (Kamar Delos Reyes), a vigilante who has risen since Matt (Cox) retired as Daredevil. While walking to his new apartment to set up some flowers for his wife, he sees two men beating up another man on a subway platform. Hector intervenes, fighting both attackers with surprising strength and skill.

We don’t yet know that Hector is The White Tiger, and he wasn’t wearing his vigilante gear. Matt takes on his case, while Cherry (Clark Johnson) later discovers Hector’s secret identity after finding his outfit hidden under his bed. Even his wife didn’t know. Matt sets out to find the missing witness. This storyline is crucial because it shows the audience why it may not be worth Murdock bringing back his alter ego, The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen.

The witness runs away. As Hector continues fighting, he subdues one of the assailants. The other swings at The White Tiger, misses, stumbles, and falls fast in front of a moving train. Blood splatters across Hector’s face. Suddenly, the criminal on the ground rises and draws a weapon—and a badge—identifying himself as a police officer.

Heather’s new clients are Fisk and Vanessa, who need marriage therapy. One of Fisk’s henchmen, Cole North (Arty Froushan), has Heather sign her books at a book signing. The young man asks Vanessa if she has had any openings before. Cole may have instructed the young man to ask Heather about her availability.

He most likely passed this information along to Fisk’s second-in-command when she provided her contact information. Fisk also has political problems of his own. His protégé, Daniel (Michael Gandolfini), makes the mistake of bringing in a young, local reporter whom Fisk wants to use to get his message out.

Additionally, the current police commissioner tells Fisk he will use his power to force the “Kingpin” to resign within a month. Fisk’s Chief of Staff advises that he needs to keep the commissioner on board to avoid losing the police union’s support. However, Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) uncovers that the commissioner has a secret family outside Philadelphia. Instead of resigning, the commissioner must keep his job and act as Wilson’s puppet.

Daredevil: Born Again ends with Matt saving the witness from being assassinated by the police. Matt had Cherry locate the witness after hearing a cop whisper the informant’s name in the courtroom while grilling the officer that White Tiger had “assaulted” on the subway platform.

Later, Cherry tells Murdock the location, and he travels to the apartment to find the informant. Matt explains to him that he is a witness and needs to testify. Of course, the informant responds that if he does, the police will kill him. A few moments later, Murdock hears the cops coming up the stairs.

He allows his new star witness to escape down the fire escape, giving him Cherry’s location as a safe hideout. The two police officers try to kill Matt, but before they pull the trigger, he breaks one cop’s arm. He then knocks the other out by slamming his head against the floor. He screams, and the episode ends.
