The incident occurred on February 27, 2025, around 9:40 p.m. when officers received a report of an armed robbery.
The suspect entered the business, placed a handgun on the counter, and demanded money from the register.
After taking an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect fled before police arrived.
Witnesses reported that the suspect may have entered another nearby business.
Officers conducted a search of the area but were initially unable to locate the individual.
However, surveillance footage from inside the business allowed officers to quickly identify the suspect as 35-year-old Maxwell Eugene Avery Nichols.
Less than two hours later, Nichols was apprehended.
At the time of his arrest, he was found in possession of a BB gun resembling the handgun used in the robbery, along with cash believed to be from the incident.
Nichols has been charged with robbery under California Penal Code 211 PC.
The identity of the victim has been withheld.
The case was overseen by Sgt. Mike Consiglio, with Lt. Mike Rodden serving as the watch commander.
