One Piece: Shamrock’s Cerberus Hinted Loki’s True Devil Fruit Ability That Oda Had Kept Hidden All This Time

One Piece is heading towards the final parts of the epic saga, and the plot thickens further. Norse mythology has influenced a massive part of the Elbaph, and in the latest chapter of One Piece 1141, it has gone a step further.

The chapter has brought a much-awaited moment for the readers: the release of Loki, the accursed and hated prince of Elbaph. From the very beginning, Loki was a well-planned character (back when Big Mom’s daughter was supposed to be married off) and it is finally his time to shine.

With his introduction, the story delves further into Norse mythology, further fleshing out the lore and worldbuilding in Elbaph. But the most interesting thing about Loki getting free, is the reveal of his weapon, Ragnir.

Ragnir further connects Elbaph to Norse mythology

One of the most popular symbols of the Norse mythos is the mythical hammer of ‘Thor,’ the God of lightning and thunder. The weapon is called ‘Mjolnir’ and has the powers of lightning. In fact, it was considered the source of the Thunder God’s powers.

In the same way, ‘Ragnir’, Loki’s massive (he is a giant) hammer, seems to be inspired by Mjolnir and the idea of causing Ragnarok. The important part is that this might be an extremely frightening weapon.

The series has already hinted that inanimate objects could, in fact, possess the power of Devil Fruits. (how this would work with the sinking curse is unknown). But one thing is certain: Loki will be extraordinarily powerful with his weapon, Ragnir.

It might be connected to lightning (it is a waste otherwise), and the fact that it was mentioned in the lore that fire and lightning are the worst enemies of Elbaph seems to solidify this assumption. Add to the fact that Thor, one of the most significant individuals in the Norse myths, cannot appear at this stage in the series.

The true source of Ragnir’s power

The power of Devil Fruits has not been completely defined and understood. Maybe an inanimate object could absorb a Devil Fruit after being next to it for a long time. This means that Ragnir itself is powerful, adding to the abilities of Loki.

When Hajrudin saw that Loki was bringing out his weapon, he reacted in sheer terror. He is not the strongest, but Hajrudin isn’t weak either. This means that a part of his fear could be attributed to the weapon, and he probably knows the power of the weapon in Loki’s hands.

For a prideful giant to react in this manner, Ragnir is either an Ancient weapon with special abilities or possesses a Devil Fruit for itself. This might be why he started begging Loki to calm down and lower his weapon.

.

If a reindeer without proper intelligence could become a smart doctor (Tony Tony Chopper), then it might not be very far-fetched to believe that Ragnir could possess Devil Fruit powers. Ragnir itself might be the source of Loki’s power, perhaps even one of the famed ‘God’ fruits, like Luffy’s.

It remains to be seen how this will impact the final arc and what role Loki and Ragir will play in it.
