A SINGLE mum struggling to make ends meet has asked strangers online for help.
Sammi Ashworth, from the UK, revealed she was still unable to keep her fridge stocked up despite working.

Taking to TikTok, she shared a video of the inside of her fridge and the little food she had inside.
The single mum-of-one said: “This is my fridge. I don’t get paid till next week. I am the only income for me and my 7-year-old.”
Sammi’s fridge was practically bare as she showed the contents of what was inside.
She had a box of eggs, pancakes, dairlee dunkers, butter, yoghurts, and chicken satay.
“Cost of living is an absolute f**king joke,” she continued. “Pardon my language.”
Sammi revealed she was attempting to get to 10,000 followers on TikTok so she could be eligible for the Creator Fund.
Creators on TikTok can make money through TikTok’s creator fund.
TikTok bosses say: “The funds that each creator can earn are worked out by a combination of factors – including the number of views and the authenticity of those views, the level of engagement on the content, as well as making sure content is in line with our Community Guidelines and Terms of Service.
No two creators or videos are the same, and there is no limit to the different kinds of content we will support with the fund.
“The Creator Fund total varies daily and is dependent on the amount of videos published by our community that day – so this will fluctuate based on the amount of content being published.”
Sammi added: “Was scared to post this. Is this a desperate plea? Absolutely! Am I ashamed? Nope because there are so many of us suffering right now.”
The mum was hoping that she could use the creator fund along with her job to fill her fridge.
The clip posted to her TikTok account @sammi_ash28 went viral with over 167k views and 4,000 likes.
Hundreds of people took to the comments, and while some said she needed to budget better, others were in full support of the mum and the cost of living struggle.
Side hustles in numbers
Based on new research from Finder, an estimated 22.8 million Brits are using side hustles to top up their income.
Among those aged 18-23, 68 percent have a side hustle in 2024.
Those aged 24-42 aren’t far behind, with 65 per cent having an additional source of income.
Side hustles are less popular among older generations, with 40 percent of those aged 43-54 having one.
Whereas 23 percent of people aged 55-73 and just 7 per cent of those aged 74 and over are earning extra cash this way.
One person wrote: “Firstly it’s cheaper to make your own pancakes secondly cheaper to buy a whole chicken last 2 days so start cooking and stop buying ready made food.”
Another commented: “Budget then cancel your subscriptions. See, instead of buying dairlee dunkers, you could have bought a couple of kilos of flour for the same price. it’s the way most of you spend your money I only make home-cooked.”
“I appreciate your comment, but I can’t deprive my littlun of his dairylea dunkers. Also I don’t have any subscriptions,” replied Sammi.
“Everybody is in the same boat hun,” penned a third.
Meanwhile a fourth said: “These comments of everyone attacking her. Did she ask you for money? No! Simply showing why she wants to hit 10k followers. Cost nothing to be kind.”
“In all fairness, buying her kid some dunkers and ready-made pancakes shouldn’t be classed as chuffing luxuries, that’s the point.,” claimed a fifth.
Someone else added: “My fridge is always bare! if I was to fill it completely, I’d have to spend £200 at least, everything is so expensive, my gas bill is a joke too.”
