EAMON Dunphy has clarified that he WON’T be appearing at a Vicar Street event with John Giles and Liam Brady while labelling its advertising ‘misleading’.
His name and face was all over advertising on Ticketmaster’s website for the April 28 showcase but has since been removed.

Dunphy expressed his annoyance in an interview with The Irish Independent[/caption]
He quipped that he and his longtime pals could hardly be expected to headline such a show in such a venue like they’re Christy Moore[/caption]
The 79-year-old had first tweeted his surprise on February 26 upon learning of his supposed involvement.
He posted: “Alert, I have noticed that there are media ads for an event featuring John Giles, Liam Brady and myself in Vicar Street.
“I haven’t agreed to participate in any such event.
“I’m posting this to alert people to the fact that the advertising is misleading.”
He’s since spoken to The Irish Independent and underlined that there won’t be any reunion of RTE’s famed ‘Three Amigos’ at what was billed as a fundraiser for the Irish Professional Footballer’s Association.
Dunphy blasted: “The first I knew about it was when I saw an ad, and I was in it? ‘Hold on a minute’, I said.
“You can’t walk out on stage in Vicar Street with John and Liam. What are we going to do, tap dance?”
He then clarified that he didn’t feel he and his fellow aged pals were suited to heading a live two-hour show on that scale anymore.
The Irish Independent also spoke to IPFBA chair Harry McCue in order to get to the bottom of how the miscommunication had arisen.
McCue’s latest update informed fans that the event will be going ahead but with Niall Quinn appearing in place of the former Millwall midfielder.
McCue added: “Niall didn’t hesitate for a moment to agree to joining John and Liam which says everything about his commitment to Irish footballers’ welfare.”
IPFBA was formed in 2024 with its goal being to offer help to ex-professionals who’ve become mired in health or financial difficulties.
Tickets for the event will be priced at €50.
