“We have tried to set the stage”: Even Castlevania: Nocturne’ Creators Know We Want More Alucard For Season 3

Castlevania: Nocturne fans are eagerly looking forward to an official confirmation regarding the next installment of the show. This is no surprise given the track record of the series so far. The directors, Sam Deats and Adam Deats, seem to be in the same boat as the fandom. During an interview, they shared their vision for the potential third season of the show.

It seems as if they are ready with a list of things they’d like to focus on in the next season. To the joy of fans, Alucard might stick around for longer, given how fondly the directors spoke about the character. Moreover, we also have a hint regarding what the next season might cover.

Castlevania: Nocturne directors share their plans about the potential season 3

Castlevania: Nocturne is the story of Richter Belmont, arguably the second most popular character from the Castlevania franchise. Even though Nocturne is Richter’s story, Alucard stole the show with his appearance during the finale of the first season.

He maintained an integral position throughout the second season, and this might continue in the upcoming season as well. It seems like all that’s left is Netflix’s approval for the third season, as the directors already have an idea of what they want to focus on next.

During an interview with Collider, the Deats brothers were asked about the possibility of a subsequent season. Adam Deats explained how the Castlevania universe is vast and the story can be extended depending on what the audience and Netflix expects from them. Adding to that, Sam Deats explained:

Certainly, we have tried to set the stage for and have always wanted to do a Symphony of the Night adaptation. But, as Adam said, there is a broad universe in Castlevania.

The directors also shared their fondness for Alucard. They mentioned how they had to be extra conscious to ensure that Alucard doesn’t overshadow the cast of Nocturne. Considering how the directors are actively thinking of the audience, the likelihood of Alucard sticking around in the show should be high given his popularity.

Here’s why Alucard has such a cult-like following

To start off, Alucard is a vampire, a dhampir to be specific, and that’s a huge part of his appeal. His character arc feels complete as we can see his shortcomings and his strength all the same. It’s extremely realistic how his emotions often get the best out of him. His yearning for human connection is also something that’s easy to resonate with.

At the same time, he’s extremely strong and it feels reassuring to have him be a part of the central cast. The excitement meter instantly goes up at the mere mention of Alucard. While the human parts of Alucard are somewhat relatable, his vampire traits make up for something more aspirational.

Castlevania: Nocturne is available to stream on Netflix.
