While a guest on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Love Is Blind cohost Vanessa Lachey opened up about how she found herself in a difficult position as a parent — and shared the hilarious way the situation resolved itself.
Vanessa, 44, and her husband, Love Is Blind cohost Nick Lachey, are parents to three children: Camden, 12, Brooklyn, 10, and Phoenix, 8.
Unfortunately, the Lachey household was hit hard by the flu this year, and while laying in bed watching every acceptable rom-com together, Vanessa told Kelly Clarkson that she and Brooklyn stumbled upon Jennifer Lopez’s 2010 romantic comedy The Back-up Plan.
“She said, ‘Mommy, I really want to see this one. It has a cute doggy in it,’” leaving Vanessa in a predicament.
Vanessa admitted she didn’t have a good feeling about it, but she pushed play anyway.
“I’m thinking I’m going to ease into it,” Vanessa explained. “First scene, she’s in the chair, legs up in stirrups. He comes in with a Q-tip.”

The scene was depicting Lopez’s character being artificially inseminated, and Vanessa’s daughter understandably had questions.
“So I pause it and I go, ‘OK, so there’s a couple ways that you can get pregnant,’” Vanessa told Brooklyn. “This is one.”
Brooklyn responded by saying, “I’m going to look in the pillow when you tell me the other one.”
“I go, ‘No, no, look at me. I’ll look at the TV.’ And then I went into it and we have this whole talk explaining the science of it. He wasn’t in the room,” Vanessa said, pointing to Nick, 51, who was sitting on the couch next to her as she told the story.
Vanessa says Brooklyn now knows about it all, but after they finished watching the movie, the 10-year-old admitted to her mom that she’s still “so confused.”

“So you can opt for the Q-tip and not the guy,” Brooklyn asked her mom. “I was like, ‘Absolutely.’”
The question sent Clarkson into hysterics. “I said, ‘Yes, girl,” Vanessa, obviously proud of her daughter, continued. “Whatever mama wants, I support.”
