Cops, including the dog unit, raced to the scene after the alarm was raised at around 4.50pm.

The force launched a probe into the alleged incident after they received reports of a man carrying a knife.

Police have confirmed that a 27-year-old man has now been arrested in connection with the alleged incident.

However, one of the police dogs was sadly hurt in the incident and has been rushed to the vet.

The severity of the service dog’s injuries is unclear, but it is currently undergoing treatment.

The suspect was also taken to hospital for treatment.

Scores of officers were spotted in the area this evening, and half a dozen police vehicles were seen parked on the street.

Photos from the scene show numerous armed officers gathering on the road.

The area has been locked down as the force investigates the incident.

The street has been sealed off from the public with blue tape blocking access to the entrance of Trinity Cemetery.

There is currently still a large police presence in the area with locals claiming that “roads are closed in all directions”.

Nearby residents have taken to Facebook to warn others of the closures, with one person saying that sections of Broadhill, Park Road and Urquhart Road are locked down.

A statement from the force said: “Around 4.50pm on Friday, 28 February, 2025, we received a report of a man in possession of a knife in the Seaforth Road area of Aberdeen.

“Officers, including the dog unit, attended and one police dog was injured.

“A 27-year-old man was arrested and taken to hospital for treatment.

“The police dog was taken to a vet for treatment.

“Seaforth Road is closed at the junction with Park Road and people are asked to avoid the area.

“A police presence will remain in the area while enquiries continue.

“Anyone with any concerns, or information, can approach these officers.”

Locals have also taken to Facebook to wish the injured dog a speedy recovery.

One person said: “Brave dog, I really hope they’ll be okay”.

Another added: “Brave dog. Poor thing. Hopefully a speedy recovery.”

Someone else wrote: “Awful to hear this has happened. Hope the dog recovers”.

While a fourth posted: “I’m sure every police officer and dog are doing their job. Much respect to them in these crazy times trying to keep us safe.”

And a fifth chimed in: “I sincerely hope the police dog will be ok”.
