It will also welcome Hollywood A lister Zendaya as Felicia, one of Shrek and Fiona’s triplets.

In the clip, Zendaya‘s character appears to be edgy, as she is sporting a nose ring and a top bun.

The teaser shows Shrek, Donkey, Princess Fiona, and Felicia gathered around a golden magic mirror to ask, “Who’s the fairest of them all?”

“Why Shrek, of course,” the mirror responds, going on to show a series of images of Shrek in a pair of sun glasses making a pouting face and an AI image of him with perfect abs.

The last picture causes Shrek and Donkey to reel in fear while Felicia reacts in disgust, saying, “Ew, dad.”

“Oooh, mama like,” Fiona adds.

“Who’s making this stuff?” Shrek asks, to which Pinocchio pips: “Not me,” causing his nose to grow.

The teaser ends with confirmation that the film will come out in Christmas of 2026.

The film has brought back the franchise after 15 years, with Shrek: Forever After being the last entry into the franchise but fans far from pleased.

And Dreamworks turned off comments on the teaser’s YouTube release as they slammed the new design.

One fan said: “I feel we will owe Shrek the Third a big ass apology after this.”

“Did they get botox why are they like that?” one questioned.

“Why did y’all change the animation? it looks cheap,” another commented.

“Please change the animation style,” another begged.

Another posted a picture of the characters saying: “WHAT THE HELL DID THEY DO TO THEM NO.”

“Don’t make us sonic you,” some fans added alongside images of Sonic.

They were referring to Paramount and SEGA’s redesign of its Sonic character for the film Sonic the Hedgehog after huge fan backlash.

Another added: “I can’t even tell if this is actually real this s*** looks strange as hell.”

“Shrek sold his soul for a new sequel, I’m disappointed. They finally got him to do the humiliation ritual” added another.

Shrek 5 is loosely based on the 1990 picture book Shrek! by William Steig produced by DreamWorks Animation and distributed by Universal Pictures.

It is the sequel to Shrek Forever After (2010), and serves as the fifth main instalment of the series.
