Man dies in ‘serious assault’ after being found injured at Co Tyrone flat as PSNI issue appeal for information

A MAN has died following a “serious assault” at a flat in Co Tyrone.

PSNI confirmed that the person was found shortly after 8Pm last night.

The body was found in the building in the area of Corrainey Park in Dungannon town.

Officers attended the scene after receiving a report and found the man “seriously inured”.

He passed away as a result and the area has now been cordoned off for examinations.

Police have urged anyone with information that could be helpful in investigations to come forward.

A spokesperson for the PSNI said: “Police can confirm that a man has died, following a report of a serious assault which occurred at the Corrainey Park area of Dungannon on Thursday 27th February.”

Detective Chief Inspector Phillips said: “Shortly after 8pm, it was reported that a man was found with serious injuries at a flat in the area.

“Police attended, but sadly the man passed away as a result of his injuries.

“The Corrainey Park is currently closed as officers conduct further enquiries in the area.

“Enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and police would appeal to anyone with any information to contact them on 101 quoting reference number 1576 27/02/25.

“Information can also be provided to police online at https://www.psni.police.uk/report or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, anonymously and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”

Meanwhile, separately tributes have poured in for a 35-year-old woman killed a car crash in Derry.

Midwife Annemarie McWilliams, best known as Annie, was killed in a two vehicle collision.

The incident occurred on Windyhill Road, Macosquin, at around 3.10pm on Thursday, February 21.

Tributes have poured in for the deceased woman, with friends and loved ones remembering her as a “kind” person.

One person said: “The heart of maternity… a beautiful girl who carried us all through many’s a difficult day.

“Such a pleasure to have known and worked with you Annie! You will be missed more than you will ever know.”

Another added: “Just devastating news. The kindest soul.

“From the little shy girl who sat beside me the first day of school to that friendly face in maternity who would of done anything for you. Thinking of all those who loved you.”

And a third said: “RIP Annie, such a beautiful girl inside and out.

“You were so good to me after I had my two boys, I will never forget how caring and kind you were. Sincere condolences to all the family at this heartbreaking time.”
