A MAN, 60s, has been rushed to hospital after he was found with life threatening injures on the N17 in Mayo following a collision.
The cyclist was discovered at around 12.20pm today on the stretch of the busy road between the airport and Charlestown.
The man was brought to hospital by ambulance and a stop and go system is now in place on the road, ahead of a technical examination.
Gardai have now appealed for any witnesses to the collision to make contact with them, including anyone with dash-cam footage.
In a statement a spokesperson said: “Gardai are appealing for witnesses following a serious injury road traffic incident which occurred on the N17 in Co Mayo today, Friday, 28th February, 2025.
“The incident happened on the road between the airport and Charlestown.
“A cyclist, aged in his 60s, was found with life-threatening injuries at around 12:20pm, and was brought by ambulance to hospital.
“A technical examination is due to be carried out by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and a stop/go system is in place on the road.
“Gardai are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to come forward.”
The spokesperson continued: “Any road users who were on the N17 between the airport and Charlestown between 11:45am and 12:20pm and may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this footage available to Gardai.
