With Saturday Night Takeaway typically launching in February and running for seven weeks, it’s left a major scheduling hole for ITV bosses to fill.

And now they’ve announced its perfect replacement – Celebrity Sabotage.

The hidden camera show will air across six episodes as famous faces “unleash acts of sabotage” on unsuspecting members of the public.

Each unfortunate participant will believe they’re competing in a reality show for a jackpot prize.

Celebrity Sabotage will combine high-stakes reality with hilarious challenges and surprises thrown in for good measure.

Ant and Dec used to prank the biggest celebrities for Saturday Night Takeaway, including James Corden, Simon Cowell and Holly Willoughby.

In 2014 the former This Morning star was hosting what she thought was a normal episode of her reboot of Surprise Suprise.

She watched as ‘Annabel’ was reunited with her boyfriend Richard, who was played by Ant.

However, she was left open-mouthed when Annabel rejected the proposal – and confessed her love for Richard’s boss in front of Holly and the studio audience.

Speaking about the new format, ITV’s director of entertainment and daytime Katie Rawcliffe said: “Celebrity Sabotage is a unique combination of hidden camera, reality, and gameshow, delivering big laughs with a fantastic celebrity cast.

“We are delighted to bring this exciting new format to the ITV audience.”

Richard Cowles, Managing Director at Lifted Entertainment, added: “There are loads of laughs and the celebrities’ sabotage is all for a good cause – to win them loads of cash.

“We’re delighted that Katie and the ITV Entertainment team have green lit the show and we can’t wait to get going.”

He added that Celebrity Sabotage “incorporates all of those disciplines in a prime time show that sees celebrities duping members of the public.

“There are loads of laughs and the celebrities sabotage is all for a good cause – to win them loads of cash.”
