Zoë Kravitz has nothing but fond memories of working with her ex-fiancé Channing Tatum on her directorial debut, Blink Twice.

When asked whether the pair’s breakup affects how she views the film in an interview with Elle published Tuesday, February 25, Kravitz, 36, simply responded, “Not at all.”

She explained, “I love this thing that we made together, and I care for him very much. Even when you bring up how great his performance is, it warms my heart to hear that, and I’m so happy that all of it happened. I just feel so grateful that we got to go on that journey together.”

Kravitz and Tatum, 44, began their romance in 2021 while filming Blink Twice, which hit theaters in August 2024. Tatum stars as a villainous tech billionaire, Slater King, who invites a group of women to spend time on his mysterious private island with his friends. Upon discovering the truth about the group’s activities, chaos ensues as Naomi Ackie’s Frida turns the table on Slater.

Getting to show audiences a different and darker side of Tatum on screen was something Kravitz was excited to do. “For Chan specifically, it was about how exciting it would be to see him do something so different and so surprising, and something that I knew he was so capable of,” she told the outlet.

Despite their split, Kravitz said she’s excited to see what Tatum does next. “He has so much more coming, and I think he’s in a place as an actor where he’s feeling really confident and people are seeing different sides of him,” she gushed. “He’s got a lot to offer, so I’m excited for people to keep witnessing that.”

Kravitz and Tatum are set to collaborate again as cast members in the upcoming film Alpha Gang, directed by brothers Nathan and David Zellner and produced by Cate Blanchett. The film will follow a group of alien invaders who set off to conquer Earth disguised as a 1950s biker gang.

Alpha Gang was announced hours before news broke that Kravitz and Tatum had called off their engagement in October 2024 after three years of dating. “Ultimately once the project [Blink Twice] ended, they realized they were on different pages with what they wanted,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly at the time. “It fizzled fast after their press tour wrapped.”

Later that month, another insider exclusively told Us that the exes “will be able to get through” working together on Alpha Gang, stating, “Both of them are very professional and there is no bad blood between them. Film is their passion, so it could bring them back together.”

In November 2024, another source exclusively told Us that “travel and work” played a part in their breakup. “They [had] been starting to drift apart and realized they didn’t want the same things,” the insider shared. Kravitz was spotted without her engagement ring while grabbing dinner with her pal Taylor Swift in New York City that same month.

Kravitz previously gushed about Tatum’s Blink Twice performance in a December 2024 interview with Variety, revealing he was the “first person” she thought of for the role of Slater. “I knew that the character needed to be somebody who we think we trust, especially because you don’t believe Naomi is getting on that plane if it’s someone who is immediately insidious,” she said. “I wanted to weaponize his charisma. We’ve never seen him do something like that.”
