Rare Moment When One Piece Live Action Was Better Than the Manga and Anime Thanks to Iñaki Godoy

Who would’ve ever imagined that a live-action adaptation of an anime or manga could be this popular, even surpassing the original to an extent? It may sound crazy, but that’s exactly what happened with Netflix’s One Piece live-action series, and it was only possible for their great choice of cast.

Especially, Iñaki Godoy’s spot-on portrayal of Monkey D. Luffy has broken through all the expectations; he’s energetic, funny, and caring for his friends, just like a Luffy in real life, and fans are so in love with it.

But what really takes the winning cake is this one particular scene, where we got to see the iconic quadro together, as they were getting prepared to take revenge for their dear friend!

This, in fact, has never been done before with this much attention to detail. To everyone’s surprise, the live-action adaptation of One Piece has done the unthinkable and actually improved upon the manga and anime to a certain extent! They nailed that iconic scene where Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, and Usopp assemble together to journey on and take revenge on Arlong.

But how did they manage to make this scene even more iconic than what it already was?

Manga, Anime or live action, who did it better?

The live-action production team slowed down the pace of the scene from the anime and added some extra flair. Luffy’s iconic walk to Along Park, with the crew’s game faces on, was so perfect in the live-action, and Iñaki Godoy totally crushed it with his legendary walk-in.

Both the manga and the anime are obviously great in their own right, but the live-action series somehow managed to enhance the whole viewing experience. The way they added the soundtracks and crafted the overall atmosphere was pure perfection. They simply took all the best elements of the original and created something way better.

Why the scene was so iconic in particular

After knowing Nami’s tragic past, Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, and Usopp just couldn’t keep their cool much longer; so they all got revved up and ready to take down Arlong’s empire. One could even see the tension written all over their faces in the Live-Action; Zoro had his sword at the ready, Sanji was just menacingly standing and puffing on a cigarette, and Usopp was busy meditating.

After everything those pirates did to Nami and her hometown, it’s no wonder they were all itching for revenge. It’s a totally natural reaction for any human being, and this is what makes this scene even more electrifying.

The live-action adaptation absolutely nailed the vibe of this scene. The actors brought so much depth and emotion to their characters, it felt like we were reliving this iconic moment all over again. And that’s what makes this adaptation truly special; it stayed true to the spirit of the original while still managing to amplify the overall impact of the scene.

One Piece Live-Action is available to watch on Netflix.
