Kuzan Will Betray Blackbeard and Become 11th Straw Hat Pirate After Nearly Getting Garp Killed: One Piece Theory

Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece has many shocking twists, but Aokiji Kuzan’s betrayal is still one of the biggest ones in the story. As One Piece fans know, Kuzan was an Admiral in the Navy and one of their strongest officers. But after a feud with Akainu, he left the Navy and joined Blackbeard as their tenth Titanic captain.

This came as a big shock because among all the Navy Admirals, Kuzan was the only one who fans believed to be on the right side, as he helped the Straw Hat Pirates and didn’t care much about the orders from above. Ever since he joined the Blackbeard Pirates, he has taken many wrong steps, and the biggest one among them was fighting Monkey D. Garp, his former mentor, in One Piece.

However, a One Piece theory claims that this might not be the last betrayal from Kuzan, as he might switch sides again and join the Straw Hat Pirates in One Piece. The theory hints that Kuzan is with Blackbeard for a secret mission of his own, and once he accomplishes it, he will betray them and join Luffy and his crew in One Piece.

Kuzan’s interaction with the Straw Hat Pirates in the past

In the canonical One Piece storyline, Kuzan has only met with the Straw Hat Pirates one time after the Davy Back Fight. He interacted with them at the Long Ring Long Land Island, and although he acted like he was there to capture Nico Robin, he eventually left them alone after testing out their strengths and abilities as a crew in One Piece.

This interaction proved that Kuzan had nothing against the Straw Hat Pirates and was also maybe silently hoping for them to fulfill their dreams and liberate the One Piece world from the tyranny of the World Government. Not only that, he even pointed out the debt he owed to Luffy’s grandfather, Monkey D. Garp, which was evidently the main reason why he left them alone.

This was the first time that One Piece fans learned about Kuzan’s connection to Garp and their relationship as mentor and apprentice. This was also the reason why Kuzan’s battle with Garp on Hachinosu felt sad in more than one way. Hopefully, Eiichiro Oda has planned something for Kuzan that might redeem his actions in One Piece.

One Piece theory hints that Kuzan might join the Straw Hat Pirates

There have been many speculations about Kuzan being on a secret mission that required him to join the Blackbeard Pirates in One Piece. Considering his image in the beginning, it is the only explanation that makes sense. However, according to a theory posted by @tamirsverse on YouTube, there is a chance that he might betray the Blackbeard Pirates and join Luffy.

The theory speculates that if Kuzan had met with the Straw Hat Pirates instead of the Blackbeard Pirates, he would have joined Luffy’s crew. Of course, it would have only been possible if he didn’t have any ulterior motive against Blackbeard’s crew and was not on any kind of secret mission in One Piece.

Thus, if the Straw Hat Pirates and Blackbeard Pirates clash in the future, there is a strong possibility that he might switch sides at the last moment and betray Blackbeard and his crew. This would in some way redeem him and bring back the respect that One Piece fans had for him at the beginning of the series.
