‘Kidnapped & murdered’ Brit businessman Campbell Scott ‘had been tortured & was found dead in sack of pineapples’

BRITISH businessman Campbell Scott was feared to have been kidnapped, tortured and murdered after he went missing in Kenya.

The 58-year-old Scottish man’s body was reportedly found dumped in a sack of pineapples by farmers days after he first vanished.

Campbell was last seen in Nairobi on February 16 before cops launched an extensive search for him after capturing his final movements on CCTV.

The Dunfermline resident, who works as a senior director with the data analytics company Fico, was spotted walking around in a Scotland kit the day before he vanished.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) say the footage showed Campbell leaving the JW Marriott Hotel with a man dressed in a white T-shirt and blue jeans.

They then got into a car before driving off, say Capital News.

A body was later found dumped in a sack on February 22 by animal herders in the Makongo forest, sat 60 miles southeast of the capital, The Times reports.

Investigations into his death say the Scottish man was most likely strangled.

Campbell’s death was confirmed by his employers on Monday night.

They told The Sun: “Fico can confirm that Nairobi police have identified the body of Campbell Scott, a Fico employee.

“Campbell went missing last Sunday while on a business trip to Nairobi.

“We are not sharing further details, as the investigation is in the hands of the police.”

Officials fear the Brit may have been kidnapped, according to local media.

Police said they had been given statements from at least six people from the JW Marriott hotel where he was staying.

Two people have since been detained, including a taxi driver and a waiter, according to Capital News.

A spokesperson for Fico paid tribute to the Scot with a touching statement last night.

“We are devastated by this tragic news. Campbell was a leader in our international Scores business,” they said.

“He joined Fico in 2014 and was instrumental in introducing Scores to new markets and growing our business with existing partnerships.

“We mourn his passing and will miss his humour and kindness.”
