As Drifter has gone AWOL, there are many speculations about his motives. Nothing is confirmed as of now, but there is a possibility that he has gone out to seek The Nine, who are a prominent group of entities in the Destiny universe.
The Nine are a group of ancient enigmatic entities who are affiliated with the planets of the Sol System. They control Unknown Space, a mysterious realm, and are primarily divided into two factions: one that seeks to study the Light and use it for their own purposes and is responsible for sending Xûr, Agent of the Nine, and The Emissary to interact with the Guardians, and the others wish to free themselves from their dependence on matter-based life and the Light.
There are speculations that Bungie will continue expanding the Destiny universe, starting with The Nine. However, this is just a theory as Bungie could also explore a completely different storyline.
Players have low faith in Destiny 2‘s next saga
Bungie has released the 2025-2026 roadmap for Destiny 2, confirming many exciting updates for the game, however, players believe that the next saga would also be a disappointing experience if Bungie decides to vault existing content.
